Is this different than the two previous posts?
looks the same but different sources. Some conflicting details.
Heroes all, support from me no matter what.
Prayers for them and their families.
This one and AP have this...
The announcement did not mention murder or other charges.
I'm confused. No charges are mentioned and yet by the headlines...
MSM!
now when you click on this CNN link it says 'murder' :(
WTF is up with the press? Murder charges or not?
That's why I only watch CNN!
I'm with you. Even if their story smells of "not quite the truth" I plan on believing our guys over some lying (potential) terrorist or terrorist's family member!
Interesting position our troops wind up in, courtesy of politically correct. They are destroyed by the terrorists if they don't and destroyed by the United States government if they do.
Something stinks!
Even if they are convicted of murdering that man?
This is the sad state of affairs that our country has become. When the lives of eight brave American troops are worth less than one Iraqi to our own military and politicians, something has gone horribly, horribly wrong in Washington.
All these courts martialing of our troops for 'murder' is just to appease the Iraqis, the leftist media, and the world's Left. Our troops are being thrown to the vultures by the very men who placed them in this war. It's really no different than some International agency watching our troops' every move under a microscope, and putting them on trial for 'war crimes' after every allegation of wrongdoing. What the military is doing to our own men, and what Bush is allowing, is frightening. It's as though they feel no personal connection to them.
In all of America's wars put together, including the Civil War and WWII, have there ever been this many American troops put on trial for 'murder' or other high war crimes? I don't know if it's easy, or even possible, to get information like that, but somehow I doubt it. The U.S. used to be a sane, rational country that understood that war is war and things happen under the duress of daily battle. This constant charging of our own troops with 'murder' is clearly a result of the disastrous effect the Left has on our country, and result of the cowardly Right who lets them hang out to dry.
May God bless our troops and grant them decisive victory in all their battles against the evil men of Islam, and protect them against the unreasonable men in the military heirarchy who would give them an impossible job to do, and then hang them for tryng to do it.
Absolutely! These soldiers on the battlefield in Iraq are the bravest men on earth.
I support them no matter what.
I stand beside you on that!
Those who rest safely and comfortably over here but do not agree with this position are not welcome.
If these men are convicted of murder, convicted by the court martial and not by the media I might add, then they are a disgrace to the uniform they wore and and insult to the tens of thousands of men and women serving in Iraq who didn't find it necessary to murder an Iraqi civilian. If they are found guilty, and I stress the word 'if', then they deserve to spend the rest of their days at Leavenworth making little rocks out of big ones.
I spent over 25 years in the military, serving with some of the finest men and women I could ever hope to meet. All of knew right from wrong, all of us knew what was expected of us, and all of us knew the consequences if we broke the rules. None of the people I served with would consider someone who murdered an unarmed civilian to be an honorable or brave person. And that was the Navy, the Corps prides itself on claiming to maintain a higher standard. If these men did what they are accused of then they are a slap in the face of all the honorable Marines still serving there.
Hopefully, after the WOT is concluded, we will never be in another war. After all the asinine charges have been totted up against our troops (including the Abu Ghraib nonsense and Haditha), we will be lucky to find anyone willing to tolerate this PC nonsense to defend this country.
Lt Calley,,is that you?
