Al-Qaida-linked group claims GIs' abduction

BAGHDAD, Iraq - A group linked to Iraq's al-Qaida said on Monday it had abducted two American soldiers near Yusufiya, according to a statement posted on the Internet.

Earlier, the U.S. military said seven American troops have been wounded, three insurgents have been killed and 34 detained during an intensive search for the soldiers.

Maj. Gen. William Caldwell, a spokesman for U.S. forces in Iraq, said fighter jets, unmanned aerial vehicles and dive teams had been deployed to find the two men. The men went missing Friday during an attack on their checkpoint in the volatile Sunni area south of Baghdad that left one of their comrades dead.

“We have surged intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance platforms and employed planes, boats, helicopters and UAVs to ensure the most thorough search possible on the ground, in the air and in the water,” Caldwell said in a statement issued Monday.

Make no mistake calls for withdraw (cut and run) embolden are enemy and are the cause of such attacks.... If the Dems were united with us in this endeavor it would have long ago been over.... Every call for withdrawl every negative statement about the effort spills the blood of good American Servicemen and women.

Once again this will result in most Americans expressing anger at the terororists while the media and Democrats express anger at Bush.

This will also allow the press to again portray our troops as DEAD FAILURES.

Sadly...that's exactly right. The agenda driven jurnotards will run this story into the ground, hoping to erase any memory of Z being killed and any other gains for peace and freedom in Iraq...etc...

Whatever our monsterous press does, I just hope these soldiers are found alive...and their kidnappers are brought to justice.

This will happen without question - These animals are dead men walking -

Prayers for these soldiers and their families.

The odds of two non-injuried U.S. soldiers being taken alive simply don't ring true to me however -

Regardless those responsible for this attack on this checkpoint will be served justice and I believe it will happen soon.

Let us all be honest here . We all know what will be done to these kids and it will be on the internet. They will have their torture on the net and the liberal press will be thrilled. Most of us Americans pray for those boys and hope they return to their families, but let us tell the truth, what we all think. They will be used by animals who our press tries to sing cumbya with to get a journalist award. GOD BLESS ALL THE TROOPS WHO CONTINUE TO FIGHT THESE DEVILS. I hope Murtha and Kennedy are happy today.

My question is when will we start referring to the press who aid the terrorists as animals, too?

"The three were assigned to the 1st Battalion, 502nd Infantry Regiment, 2nd Brigade, 101st Airborne Division.

My Nephew was with this Regiment during their Afghanistan deployment. (he's now a Sargent with the 1-24 Stryker Brigade) I'll have to ask him if he knew either of these gentlemen.

For these animals, justice begins at the tip of a match grade 168gr bthp 7.62x51 BULLET...preferably rubbed in bacon fat. Their most fervent wish in all the world is to commune with allah (lower case deliberate). Our duty is to arrange the meeting.

The troops just love Bush. At every appearance he makes they mob him. They know he will stay the course.

There was an article last week about reaction to his visit to Baghdad and how the troops received him (and many Iraqis were equally thrilled); it was quickly buried, of course.

And his concern for those wounded and for the families of those who have died is equally great. There was an article posted on FR Saturday or yesterday about his planned visit to a family in Washington state. The White House requested that they be prepared to spend 30-40 minutes alone with him and bring pictures of the family and deceased so that he can get to know them all better. For every death he grieves with their loved ones. And you can see the toll it is taking on him -- he is getting older before our eyes. The only other President that I know of who was so taken with the deaths of servicemen was Lincoln, who had to deal with the many tens of thousands of fighters dead in the Civil War. Legitimate historians will note that this President will be known for his deep caring and compassion for every man and woman who dies in the cause of freedom.
