My wife bought a copy of Coulter's for me and I've gone through a couple of hours on a flight to Dallas. While I haven't finished it (and I probably won't because it's useless, aimless and irrational trash), her thesis is manifestly clear. It's the same relentless diatribe intended to satisfy her constituency on the far right that attributes every evil and public detriment to the evil left and every public benefit to the Limbaugh, Hannity, etc. clones who worship their every hyperbole, exaggeration and misinformation. Advocacy based on independence of thought and critical analysis is the highest form of indvidual participation in public affairs. Fervent adherence to ideology simply because it: (1) is the group think and clan's ideologically fervent position irrespective of its true public value, and (2)--and probably more important-- it contradicts and rejects even the slightest validity to the position of those they oppose. It's meaningless and empty Orwellian lock-step.

Coulter is an outrageous and intellectually vacant demagogue. She fits the axiom that even though an empty suit can have a prestigious designer label, be handmade and have a huge price tag from a classy store, it's still an empty suit. That perfectly describes Ann Coulter.

You're just upset because Coulter doesn't fight within the template the Left has designed for conservatives while remaining exempt of those very same rules.

"Coulter is an outrageous and intellectually vacant demagogue."

Ann's writings hit a bit too close to home for ya?

I don't agree with Ann's angle on many issues but she isn't too far off in blaming most of our screwed-up society on the advancement of leftist ideals. It doesn't matter whether you or I like her or not - she's mostly correct.

Watta bunch of hooie, middie.

Your moniker "middie" suggests a middle position. Let me ask you a question. Is the number 5 closer to zero or to 10?

My wife bought a copy of Coulter's for me....hmmm, why is it that I highly, highly doubt your wife bought you Anne's book...

Either, a. she doesn't know you at all, b. she hates your guts and wants to pi$$ you off royally... or, c. you sir, are a liar and not only did the wifey not buy you the book, but you have not read one page of this book!

My bet's on c!

"While I haven't finished it (and I probably won't because it's useless, aimless and irrational trash)..."

If you had given your opinion after you had read the entire book, your opinion might bear consideration. However, when you voice a negative opinion of a book you have not even bothered to read, it reveals you to be nothing but the typical feeble minded liberal.

Ann's sarcastic humor is worthwhile because she always has a basic irrefutable truth in it's foundation.

The Jersey girls volunteered into the public arena by politicizing their grief. Just because it is so easy for Ann doesn't make her an empty suit, the best ideas are driven home by humor.

Typical vacuous liberal name calling.

What, specifically, did she say that you think to be inaccurate?

And, no fair bringing a crying, hysterical, woman to the party to plead your case.

Coulter is living proof of the Oscar Wilde aphorism:

Nothing succeeds like excess.

I don't agree with everything she writes or says, but I adore Ann Coulter for her spirit, her courage, and willingness to take it to the enemy. Those 9-11 widows who claim the Dowdian 'absolute moral authority' to slam the President in order to further a radically left-wing political agenda deserve all of the venom Coulter aims their way. These widows, like pathetically deranged Cindy Sheehan, use their dead loved ones as a shield protecting them from any kind of criticism or reasoned challenge. Calling them on it does not constitute demagoguery.

Hey, what would anybody expect from a person who considers the Bush administration a "train wreck":

"I hope Tony realizes associating with the Titanic of presidental administrations has a myriad of post Bush job jeopardies. He's a smart as well as intelligent guy and has good instincts. Perhaps trying to defend the indefensible, trying to make sense of the nonsensical and trying to put a patina of wisdom on the abject ignorance that flows from the Bush-Cheney duet may be seen by colleagues as a journalistically brave undertaking. He may be the only person to emerge from that train wreck with his reputation and credentials intact."

You're on the wrong forum.

I once temped for a retired USMC Colonel. He would have said the exact same thing. Being upper echelon management, he had many underlings to do the heavy lifting, which left him free for mind games with me. HH's regular "gal" left on a sick leave and never returned. I never met her, but I know what she was sick of, and I didn't blame her one bit. When the alloted time had passed, I was offered this very exclusive position on a permanent basis.
I never laughed so hard or ran so fast in my life.

Being one of the uneducated peons that sees the real and timely need for Ann Coulter's book, I can only say that your critique is neither insightful nor is it relevant, since you are, apparently(I read your bio) always the "smartest guy in the room" and there is very little room to be open to new ideas when you hold that position. WE are going to do it your way, or there will be a massive official snit fit in triplicate. Oh yeah, I remember that tune!

You don't like conservatives who take off the gloves. I admit that Coulter also uses brass nucks. Just like your tribal leaders do and ours don't. But, hey, go get a towel for your bloody nose.

That perfectly describes Ann Coulter.

What a wonderful display of ego in your post, #9.

You've critiqued your own diatribe, ignoring the fact that its hyperbole is basically useless, aimless and irrational trash, meaningless and empty.

It's just another rant from an outrageous and intellectually vacant demagogue -- just one more empty suit.

Middie, middie, middie! Get a life! Dummies like you are the reason I despise liberals. Please tell me where Coulter uses misinformation. Her accuracy is extraordinary and spot on, to the endless irritation of liberals. The only "Orwellian lock step" that is constantly and patently obvious is that demonstrated every day by the RATs. Their playbook and talking points are seldom altered and are always wrong, just as you are about Ann.

Coutler reminds me of an episode of Bill Cosby where Dr Huxtable advices Theo that few appreciate a wonderful steak served on a garbage can lid. Presentation is important, and she often choses the most venal approach. In this instance, I don't have enough facts to know if she is correct or not. I agree with her often, and also disagree with her sometimes (for example, her defence of Joe McCarthy). But, on the whole, it is important to have a bold perspective, which she brings.
