P.T.qualifies as an ultra conservative.I disagree. I would classify Buchanan as a national socialist. It is an insult to conservatism to call Buchanan's beliefs just an extreme version of conservatism.

It's an insult and a damn libel to call Buchanan a Nazi. And that is exactly what you have done by calling him a nationalist socialist.

I would classify Buchanan as a national socialist. It is an insult to conservatism to call Buchanan's beliefs just an extreme version of conservatism.I'd have to agree. What this vein of political thought on the American Right is is truly European conservatism. This is where right-wing collectivism (and all of its gross ills) comes into play.
This is deeper than it appears on a prima facie basis, therefore I recommend a good reading of Why I Am Not A Conservative by F.A. Hayek to truly understand this phenomenon.

I would classify Buchanan as a national socialist. He's still upset about his great-uncle who died at Auschwitz.
(Some good did come of it, though. Immediately afterwards, the protective railings of all guard towers were inspected and reinforced.)
