Very good. It is locla government making the restriction on public school grounds. May actually force parents to quit poisoning their kids with junk that causes diabetes and causes a whole host of medical problems. Did anyone see Dr Phil yesterday about the fat kids of America? If your kid is fat, it is your fault when someone picks on them at school and they are ridden with diseases later in life such as cancer.

I used to make my daughter's lunch because the school food was so bad. And so unbalanced. It was filled with hot dogs, hamburgers and pizza. To this day, she won't eat a hot dog. It's time to pull kiddies from school if possible.

People may not like government restrictions, but the sad fact is that most people in this world (and this nation) need to be told what to do and when to do it.

Or are you being sarcastic. Any food in moderation won't hurt you. If people are too dumb too have common sense it is not Government's job to legislate.

What ever happened to parents assuming responsibility for their offspring rather than have the government do their parenting?

Oh, yeah, nothing tyrannical about this. Nothing like telling eveyone how to live their lives and how to raise their children. Why don't we just turn them over to the government from day one, that way they can feed them healthy and brainwash them at the same time for their whole lives, that should do the trick.

I would guess you think you are a conservative, think again. Anyone who applauds the goverment sticking their faces into peoples lives, and who wants to dictate to other people how to raise their kids, is NOT a conservative.

Parents bought and paid for that school with their hard-earned tax money...it's not a fiefdom! If a parent wants to have lunch with their child on a special occasion, like a birthday, it's none of the school's darn business what they eat! Next they'll be searching lunch bags and throwing out contraband cupcakes!

You can't actually believe that a school has more authority over what a child eats than their own parent! It may be the parent's fault if a child is obese, but that does NOT mean the school gets to take over the rearing of that child.

Have you ever seen what is fed to kids in school cafeterias these days? School food is not improvement over fast food, sometimes the same thing; like when Wed. is *Pizza Hut* day.

The schools are trying to deny the parents the right to do what the schools themselves do. Just whose kids are they anyway and who pays the school taxes? They need to focus more on teaching them to read and write and they can't even get that right, so they have no business telling parents how to feed their kids.

Not to hijack the topic or anything, but I've never seen Dr. Phil, and I highly doubt that I ever will, certainly not voluntarily!

Dr. Phil is disgusting. How anyone can watch him is beyond me. Is he still pudgy? Typical pot and kettle.

I went to school in the 50s and 60s.I took a brown paper bag to school with me each day.Typically,it contained one(or two sandwiches),some fresh fruit, and something sweet. On fridays, the good sisters conducted"The Hot Dog Sale"to raise money for our parish, and(I think)to give us a break from the monotony of brown bagging it.There were some fat kids, but very few.I know times have changed,but......?

Agreed. The government knows better than us dumb parents. We should turn over our kids to the state and then they will be perfect in every way.

That's what I don't get. My oldest is a little overweight. Just like his dad was at his age before he grew out of it at 13. He eats the good food we eat. He exercises as much as everyone else in the family. It frustrates him, since he tries. Then, he has his little brothers who eat through everything like a bunch of locusts and they ae still thin. Honestly, he doesn't know any kids who are overweight.

Banning something is pretty easy - it can be done with the stroke of a pen. Getting kids to move, on the other hand, well, that might force some district bureaucrats to move, too.

And they don't like that any more than kids do.

Well, you know, if you can't teach the kids how to read, write, and think, you might as well start telling them what they can and cannot eat for lunch.

What a pack of losers.

If you are watching Dr. Phil, you have some significant problems of your own. Do you honestly need someone to tell you how to live life? Do you have a problem with deciding between right and wrong?
