ADL blasts Canada's anti-Israel boycott

he Anti-Defamation League (ADL) on Thursday labeled as "deplorable and offensive" a call by the Ontario branch of Canada's largest labor unions for a full range of anti-Israel boycott activity.

At its annual meeting on May 28, the Ontario chapter of the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE) unanimously passed a resolution to "support the international campaign of boycott, divestment and sanctions" against Israel. The vote almost directly coincided with the passage on May 29 of an anti-Israel boycott resolution by an academic union in Britain.

"Once again, a labor union has voted to take the deplorable and offensive step of attempting to isolate and vilify the State of Israel while taking a strongly one-sided view of the conflict," said Abraham H. Foxman, ADL National Director. "While full of propagandistic hyperbole, the union's resolution makes no effort to reflect current realities on the ground in the region. There is no mention of Israel's unilateral redeployment from Gaza and proposed action in the West Bank, nor is there any recognition of the challenges posed by the terrorist group Hamas' reign over the Palestinian Authority and its refusal to recognize Israel's right to exist or to renounce terror."

The CUPE, Canada's largest union, voted on Saturday to throw its support behind an international boycott of Israel, the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation reported Thursday.

The union decried the Israel's security barrier, calling it an "apartheid wall" and arguing that international jurisprudence forbids such measures.

Representatives of over 200,000 employees voted to join the movement condemning Israeli policy in the ongoing Israeli-Palestinian conflict, a movement that has been gaining steam since July 2005.

Katherine Nastovski, chair of the CUPE's international solidarity committee, said that political and economic boycott on the part of the international community had brought and end to apartheid in South Africa, and said that the union would continue to work for Palestinian rights, including the right of return.

CUPE = Canada?

That's an unsually alarmist headline.

There you go, Israel. Surrender some more.

Never mind the rockets falling daily on Israeli cities, you've won great praise and political reward for running away from Gaza.

I don't remember Western boycotts after Entebee or after you bombed Osirak, hell no, they come when you are bending over every which way to appease.

The one thing that the ADL should do first is to vote Abraham H. Foxman, their National Director, out of office and get someone at least halfway reputable as their leader.

Foxman discredited himself permanently with his shrill cries to censor showings of 'The Passion of the Christ' in 2004, because of his alleged fear that all those moronic U.S. Christian fundies would began the first American pogroms after viewing it, and American Jews might be in danger from the new American Cossacks. And Foxman never even had the decency to apologize afterward, when NO, NADA, ZERO such violence occurred!

Foxman showed himself to be a world-class anti-Christian bigot, and he has no right to demand that anyone else should renounce their bigotry until he renounces his.

In short, as long as Foxman is head of the ADL, their influence is radically decreased. And that's very bad, because in a time of world-wide rising anti-Semitism, the ADL needs to get rid of their own pet bigot to have the moral influence that they need.

CUPE leadership represents the Communist fringe. The "C" should stand for Communist in their name.

You're forgetting his more recent comments about Conservative Christians wanting a Christian theocracy in America. Foxman has removed the thin veil of anti-Christian sentiment in the ADL.

By the way, Abe, good luck confronting this Canadian boycott without those dreaded fascist Christian Conservatives.

>>>>>>Once again, a labor union has voted to take the deplorable and offensive step of attempting to isolate and vilify the State of Israel while taking a strongly one-sided view of the conflict," said Abraham H. Foxman, ADL National Director.<<<<<

It is interesting to see how ADL condemns someone for the actions mirroring their own.

During 1992-95 Bosnia civil war ADL was a mouthpiece of Bosnian Muslim propaganda aiming at isolation and villifying of Bosnian Serbs as a people and Serbia as a state. ADL continues with this Islamic propaganda to the present day

Even worse is ADL's spreading of propaganda on behalf of Albanian terrorists and their takeover of Serbian province of Kosovo, because it is a deplorable and offensive step of attempting to isolate and vilify the State of Serbia while taking a strongly one-sided view of the conflict".

According to Arafat, Intifada was modelled upon Albanian model for takeover of Kosovo.

If ADL continues to be a mouthpiece of islamic propaganda their words of condemnation of others for the similar activities rings hollow.

ADL pretends to protect the interests of State of Israel while in reality is helping the enemies of Israel to establish international precedent.
