The Ontario divison of Canada's largest union has voted to support an international campaign that is boycotting Israel over its treatment of Palestinians.
Delegates to the Canadian Union of Public Employees Ontario convention in Ottawa voted overwhelmingly Saturday to support the campaign until it sees Israel recognizing the Palestinians' right to self-determination. The Ontario group represents more than 200,000 workers.
The global campaign started last July and has been supported by many North American churches, 20 Quebec organizations, and others, Canadian Press said.
CUPE also condemned what they called Israel's "apartheid wall," saying it is illegal under international law.
"Boycott, divestment and sanction worked to end apartheid in South Africa," said Katherine Nastovski, chairwoman of the CUPE Ontario international solidarity committee.
"We believe the same strategy will work to enforce the rights of Palestinian people, including the right of refugees to return to their homes and properties."
Your prediction is already being fulfilled. During a recent convention, CUPE Ontario leadership made a "solidarity" visit to another union's strike site (Ottawa's Congress Centre, and important convention centre which I believe which has been affected by the strike for over a month now) with the specific intent of causing trouble, invading the premises and getting arrested. Then, in typical union thug fashion, they turned victim and blamed the police for everything. Their account linked below:

cupe has no reason for an anti israeli stance other than islamic infiltration of another institution who have decided to make an issue.

CUPE represents a far,far-left organization, populated with communists and socialists. Normal folk are shouted down and not allowed to participate. There are concerned Canadians that are investigating this union of public employees. Castro and Chavez are revered in this group.... oh, well, they only teach our kids, etc....
Such wonderful enlightenment. Attempting to prevent your race from being exterminated is just plain unfair!

Shameful action by the union thugs.
CUPE moonbats have no concept of what it is like to live in the furtive fear that a suicide bomber is going walk into the store or restaurant you are in to set himself off. They take freedom and liberty for granted, a dangerous thing to do in the newly emerging Conservative Canada. It could cost them their Union Status, which in Canada exists as a privilege granted by government, which can be terminated for cause.

Their military wing was Umkonto We Sizwe. The South African Govs answer to this terrorism was to turn SA into a police state with Security Police who were given very wide powers, totally unfettered by the courts.
Imprisonment without trial was commonplace under Anti-Terrorism Legislation and the Suppression of Communism Act, which empowered the Security Police to lock people away for years without access to the courts or an attorney and without the need to confirm that these people were in custody. They simply disappeared.
Death in detention was commonplace, see Steve Biko. Surveillance of anyone suspected of harboring ANY opposition to the government was the rule, not the exception.
Phones were tapped. Students, newspaper reporters & editors, academics, business leaders, writers, poets, play-writes, religious leaders were imprisoned, "banned" (which basically declared someone an unperson..prohibited from leaving their home for any reason, prohibited from meeting with more than 2 persons, including family, clergy, etc, using the telephone, unable to work, prohibited from being quoted, passport canceled and confiscated).
SA was a very repressive country not that far removed from the USSR.
So the comparison between SA (apartheid), and Israel is totally inaccurate, and is purely a PR maneuver.
You bet it could. In the end times prophecies, the Bible indicates that ALL nations will come against Israel. That includes us. We're friends now, but the way things are going we won't be faithful to them forever. And we will suffer for it too. I feel 'sorry' for CUPE. They are playing right into the devil's hands, same as some of our liberal churches in America.
Except CUPE isn't liberal. It is communist.
In my mind, they're the same--communists, socialists, enemies of our Republic. Thanks for the heads up.
