My Email to Larry Craig on his immigration vote
email | may 27 2006 | Babygene

Posted on 05/27/2006 10:44:52 PM PDT by babygene

This is the text of an email I sent to Senator Larry Craig (Idaho). I would hope that all would send messages letting them know of our aproval or disaproval of the positions they take on important issues.

To: Senator Larry Craig (Idaho)

I had communicated with you earlier regarding Illegal immigration, and that you would be loosing not only the support of me, but my extended family in Boise if you voted for amnesty.

I will give you the benefit of the doubt that you did it out of foolishness and not treason, however as you evaluate your political support in Idaho, count us out.

Understand, we are not against legal immigration from Mexico, just Illegal immigration…

Dear Mr. President,

I am a conservative citizen of the state of [my state]. I voted for you. In 2004, I enthusiastically urged others to vote with me to reelect you.

Last week, I listened closely and patiently to your proposed response to the lawlessness on our border with Mexico. Your position is perfectly clear. The rationale for your proposal is appalling. I am extremely dissatisfied.

Today, I pray that Congress will reject completely your proposal to grant amnesty to so many illegal immigrants and their U.S. employers.

I am also praying that the appropriate authorities will reinforce the security on our national borders. I would be satisfied if you would focus your attention on the efforts to end illegal immigration.

Sincerely,

[TSchmereL]

Senator [2 of my state]
Congressman [of my district]

My email to our Senator was a little less forgiving:

Dear Senator Craig,

I'm writing to you to express my utter disappointment that you voted to provide amnesty to illegal aliens currently living in the United States. It angers me that you look upon the opinions of Idahoans with such disdain. I can assure you that this vote will not be forgotten. I hope you enjoy your current stay in your ivory tower.

The only thing that people living illegally in this country deserve is a one-way ticket to their country of origin. To do otherwise is to spit in the face of law-abiding citizens everywhere, and those people who choose to follow the law when applying for citizenship to this country. Shame on you!

Sincerely,

andyk

Sent to Boxer and Feinstein:

We are outraged at the Senator's support for illegal aliens and amnesty. Every dollar spent on illegal aliens is a taxpayer's dollar that is not available to help solve American citizen's problems.

It is with shame that I watch Fox insult the American taxpayer with his victory tour made possible by your actions.

I am not convinced they read email. I sent my handwritten letter to the President, with copies to my each of my representatives in Congress, on executive sized stationary by first class U.S. mail.

Why not?

Because one's country of origin does not necessarily preclude one from becoming a productive, patriotic, US citizen.

Larry Craig responds to e-mail, but often it is a form letter spewed by his staff and "signed" with an auto-pen. Duke Cunningham consistently read my e-mail and always returned a thoughtful response that reflected an understanding of my e-mail. The real problem in not voting for Craig in the next election cycle is having an equally pro 2nd amendment candidate running against him who is also a Republican.

I'm convinced Craig is voting according to the contributors to his re-election campaign...big agriculture in particular.

I'm not either... I'm not sure they give a damn what we think.

My letter, and the most intereesting part is, his senate site would not accept the input, but the error was noted. Lotta good that did. I will send this one snail mail now.

Dear Senator Johnson,

I was extremely displeased with your vote on the comprehensive Immigration bill that in my opinion, makes citizenship in the USA something far less than was envisioned by the founders of our country.

I would be pleased to know how anyone, much less a United States Senator, can vote for a bill which provides a path to citizenship in a bill concerning criminals, and their ILLEGAL immigration.

Citizenship should not under any circumstances appear in this bill until border security can be assured, and I am certain security is possible if the US Senate wasn't so set on having an insecure border.

Providing a citizenship path for tens of millions of criminal aliens, is not what I would call providing a secure border, and I would challenge you and your staff to justify such a course.

The Senate's credibility if it has any, following this vote, is surely at stake, not to mention the
long term security of the USA.

Thanks the opportunity to speak my mind.

You are reported to have said that illegal immigration is equivalent to a traffic violation. If this is so, then 9-11 was just a fender bender. The Administration has already lost my support on this issue. It is fast losing my respect as well.

Dear Senator Burns

I would like to thank you for your recent vote on the Illegal Amnesty bill put before the US Senate.

You were as good as your word.

Ya'all have it all wrong. They are solving the illegal immigration problem.

They're making all the illegals legal and letting anybody thru the front door. Brilliant! Problem solved.

Agreed.

Now, why in a country of clogged roads, diminishing water resources, crowded cities and left lurching politics would you want immigrants from anywhere?

If Mexico has some candidates who have PhD in Physics or who are multimillionaires, I say "take 'em," otherwise, "build that fence."

This is the E-Mail that I sent Senator Craig tonight. This is my third E-Mail to him on this subject in the past few weeks.

Dear Senator Craig,

In your May 15th 2006 News Release (since deleted from your website and replaced with an innocuous agreement with President Bush on his call to beef up security on our Southern border) you stated that illegal aliens should not be granted amnesty on any type. Now you have voted for a plan that grants amnesty, directly contradicting your previous statement.

I was looking forward to your return to Idaho over the Memorial Day Weekend and was anticipating meeting you in person to discus your recent vote.

However you seem to want to avoid your angry constituents and instead are making a trip to Europe during the holiday period.

Sir, you may be satisfying your constituents that contribute heavily to your reelection campaigns but you are ignoring the vast majority of your constituents that actually have the ability to vote for you. No amount of campaign funds will buy advertising able to convince those of us that feel let down by your recent actions to vote for you in 2008.
People do have long-term memories, especially when you so blatantly ignore the vast majority of your constituents on such a major matter.

If Craig runs true to form, I will get a response from him, probably a form letter thanking me for my input, in about three weeks.

The people of Georgia salute your courage and fortitude in voting NO to the terrible Senate bill on immigration.

Keep up the good work!

The President of the United States
The Honorable George W. Bush
The White House
1600 Pennsylvania Avenue NW
Washington, DC 20500

Dear Mr. President,

I am outraged that members of the Federal Government, the Border Patrol, have conspired with a foreign nation, Mexico, to violate the rights of Unites States citizens, to aid and abet the illegal trafficking of drugs, people, and quite possibly nuclear weapons across our southern borders.

The fact that during your administration you have not taken the securing of our borders seriously, leads me to believe that you must think they belong to you.

Sir, the borders of the United States belong to the citizens. We elected you to protect us not only from the Muslim fanatics, but from the hordes of illegal aliens invading our country on a daily basis.

As each new illegal alien signs up to vote, you are in effect disenfranchising me. My vote, the one I have worked so hard for as a tax-paying citizen, is worth nothing more than that of an illegal alien who broke our laws to enter our country.

I feel a sense of despair.

My country has deserted me.
