U.N. making homeschooling illegal?

A U.N. treaty conferring rights to children could make homeschooling illegal in the U.S. even though the Senate has not ratified it, a homeschooling association warns.

Michael Farris, chairman and general counsel of the Home School Legal Defense Association, or HSLDA, believes the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child could be binding on U.S. citizens because of activist judges, reports LifeSite News.

Farris said that according to a new interpretation of "customary international law," some U.S. judges have ruled the convention applies to American parents.

"In the 2002 case of Beharry v. Reno, one federal court said that even though the convention was never ratified, it still has an impact on American law," Farris explained, according to LifeSiteNews. "The fact that virtually every other nation in the world has adopted it has made it part of customary international law, and it means that it should be considered part of American jurisprudence."

The convention places severe limitations on a parent's right to direct and train their children, Farris contends.

The HSLDA produced a report in 1993 showing that under Article 13, parents could be subject to prosecution for any attempt to prevent their children from interacting with material they deem unacceptable.

Under Article 14, children are guaranteed "freedom of thought, conscience and religion," which suggests they have a legal right to object to all religious training. Further, under Article 15, the child has a right to "freedom of association."

"If this measure were to be taken seriously, parents could be prevented from forbidding their child to associate with people deemed to be objectionable companions," the HSLDA report explained.

Further, under Article 15, the child has a right to "freedom of association."

The pedophiles insisted on this clause.

This will make it up to the SCOTUS, at which point the Court under Roberts will almost certainly thrash it. (Just my prediction, of course.)

If we want control of our little activist judges situation we need to start enforcing the "Good Behavior" clause. We also need to question any judicial appointee on what they think about international law. Any response different than what our Chief Justice gave should be disqualifying.

One of the great enemies of totalitarian socialism is parental influence on children. It was no accident that socialist countries grab control of schools and do not allow homeschooling.

In the U. S. government has long since dominated schools and what is taught. The government in Washington has made no secret that it opposes homeschooling. The U.N. treaty forbidding homeschooling is backed 100 percent by our ruling elite.

For those few who do not yet understand that the U.N. is the vehicle by which world government is being imposed, think about it. The U. N., not the U. S. Constitution, will determine your freedom of education.

The U.N. has set and ready to go a U.N. income tax to be imposed on "rich" Western nations. Get ready for it. The machinery for collection is already established. The U.N. has been working on a U.N. tax for along time waiting for the proper time to put it into effect.

Your government in Washington will go along with it.

All those people thinking there's no difference between Republicans and Democrats should remember that.

Do you think this "tax" will go out of our paychecks automatically or will they just take the government and we will just pay with the public coffers? I know that either way we pay, but I sure would rather not have a UN tax on my paystub.

I don't think this will happen. There are many such UN agreements and treaties that aren't worth the paper they are written on. Just a chance for some diplomats to jet their fat a$$es off to some exotic location, drink cocktails for a few days, and then declare victory on some issue to preserve the illusion that they have accomplished something.

Get ready for it.

Not worried. One day we will have a Republican control of the Presidency and the Congress and we will get out of the UN...

When children have a "right" to pay their own bills, buy their own food and clothing, and pay their own rent, they can have all of those other "rights".

So I suppose a child who wants to pray in school has the right to do that, because they inherently have freedom of religion that can't be interfered with by the educational process. Am I getting this right?
