One of the paragraphs in Keillor's article:
Having been called names, one looks back at one's own angry outbursts over the years, and I recall having once referred to Republicans as "hairy-backed swamp developers, fundamentalist bullies, freelance racists, hobby cops, sweatshop tycoons, line jumpers, marsupial moms and aluminum-siding salesmen, misanthropic frat boys, ninja dittoheads, shrieking midgets, tax cheats, cheese merchants, cat stranglers, pill pushers, nihilists in golf pants, backed-up Baptists, the grand pooh-bahs of Percodan, mouth breathers, testosterone junkies and brownshirts in pinstripes." I look at those words now, and "cat stranglers" seems excessive to me. The number of cat stranglers in the ranks of the Republican Party is surely low, and that reference was hurtful to Republicans and to cat owners. I feel sheepish about it.

What a small, pitiful, spiteful, hate-filled "man." Letters to the editor can be submitted at http://www.salon.com/help/.

It's easy to call others names when your party's history is the party of slavery and jim crow laws.

Of all his slams this one strikes me at the most convoluted. Democrats are nihiiist to the core.

Letters to the editor can be submitted atPlease don't do that.
Letters responding to a childish tantrum from a washed-up, overhyped PBS "storyteller" and a site like Salon will only encourages them and make them think that people are paying attention to them and actually give a rat's behind what they publish.
I know I sure don't.
I strongly advise ignoring Keillor and Salon completely.

I agree. I recently heard him talk sorrowfully on public radio about Karl Marx' tough life in London. He never mentioned how many have been slaughtered in the name of Marx.
Why notice the guy. His perfumed voice is enough to make me retch.

I believe his mental disorder started when he realized the reflection in the mirror was his- a truly ugly individual.

Awwwwwwwwww...
Keillor's program is one of the most over-rated cultural objects ever.
His pose as one who prizes "just folks" would be laughable if it wasn't hiding contempt for so many Americans who happen to believe differently. His progam, what little I heard of it, was a tedious collection of "small town" caricatures. Libs so love their stereotypes.

That caught my eye as well. I thought, now there's the pot calling the black - whatever. This isn't unusual for liberals. Look at how some of them describe themselves:
LIBERAL: One who is polically speaking, party neutral. One who examines both sides of an issue before making a stance, and also will re-examine their stance upon presentation of new evidence.
A liberals views are not limited by bigotry, tradition, dogma, tradtion, etc. They are based on the results of their own observations and investigations into a subject from as many sides as possible.
While the liberal prefers to use logic over emotion, it does not mean he is without a heart. A liberal is just a capable of compassion as another man. He only tries to avoid the irrationality that can result from stong emotions. Urban Dictionary: liberal

Hmmm...makes me wonder if we should have a "Barf Alert" policy for posts with quotes as nauseating as that! :-)
