I don't deny that Thomas Kean, Jr. is a RINO, but New Jersey conservatives should hold their noses and vote for him. The stakes are simply too high to let Menendez win.

There are times when conservatives should stand pat and support principles even when risking political setback. And there are also times when they should cut their losses and settle for half a loaf, so to speak. This race falls in the latter catagory.

Kean Jr. may not be the most conservative guy in the world as you point out, but Republicans will sure get more out of him in the Senate than they will the corrupt Menedez who is just part and parcel of the New Jersey sleaze machine. Best to take half a plate than an empty plate.

Menendez is a real slug.

He may also be more conservative than RINO Kean.

Yesterday Kean declared that he is for strong border security and against any type of amnesty for the illegal immigrants. Menendez a Hispanic, cannot go against his constituents from his stronghold in Hispanic Elizabeth NJ. I think the immigration stance of Kean will allow him to break the deadlock, because many blue collar white Dems do not support illegal immigrants.

"Who's worse?"

The official NJ political mantra.

Menendez is Cuban. The US doesn't share a border with Cuba.

Most of the Hispanics in Elizabeth are Puerto Rican (citizens), Dominican (many of whom have become citizens), or Colombians (Elmora district). Not too many Mexicans in his old district.

Besides, Menendez is a pre-Castro Cuban, ie his parents immigrated to New York a full decade before Fidel came to power. He was raised in an Irish neighborhood. He is about as "Cuban" as Rudy Vallee.

Menendez is a corrupt socialist, pure and simple. His constituents have nothing to do with his embrace of illegal Mexicans.

The jerk pro-illegal Congressman from Chicago is Puerto Rican. They're already citizens.

I will hold my nose no more. I refuse to be taken advantage by NJ's country club RINO republicans. Voting for them will get you nowhere. If we have to hit rock bottom before we can come back to take NJ with real CONSERVATIVE politicans instead of RINO's, so be it.

At least a democrat won't be a wolf in sheep's clothing (NY Mayor Bloomberg). I won't vote for them just because they're members of the republican party. A message needs to be sent.

Screw the Senate, conservatives should focus on Congressional races instead.

That's your opinion. Each person has to decide this question on their own. It would be easier to do if Rinos did the same - but theyusually stay home orVOTEDEM!

So your "state" flag on your Freeper Profile is Israel. Do you live in New Jersey or are you just guessing about Kean?

Some message. How much effort did you put into getting Conservatives into the primary?
