He should have graduated with the rest of the class, then put on his dress blues and had pictures taken with his family. They are right about not allowing it--if they did, the most ridiculous and obnoxious garb would have HAD to have been allowed, or someone would have sued.

Seems there should be some room for compromise here as society accepts military dress uniforms as correct attire for the most strict dress functions. These uniforms could never be classified as "most ridiculous and obnoxious garb".

If indoors I believe the Marine may be uncovered at events, and that would allow a cap and gown. What say you FReeper Marines?

I think that you are absolutely wrong. This boy would have redrawn the line...and then that line would have made it tougher, more wrong for the Loonies to cross.

I'm calling Shelly Gammill Monday morning and asking her how it feels to hurt this young man and his family in favor of a PC policy that will kick her to the curb in a hot minute when this thing goes bad, as it already has...This young man has more integrity than that entire school district and it's bloated roster of NEA suck ups. Shelly stinks and I'm going to tell her so.

I have shared my thoughts with you many times and you know that I support our military, but I don't support the actions of this young man.

I think this young man just made a mockery of "The Few, The Proud, The Marines". The very first thing he did after receiving his uniform was to show disrespect for authority. He should go a long way...

I understand his strong feelings, but he could have worn his uniform under the cap and gown. BTW, my sister graduated a semester early and was not allowed to participate in the normal graduation ceremony.

sorry but you are wrong.

back in "the day" the sight of a person graduating with a military uniform was very normal.

The protocol for a JAG bound graduate was to take the hood from the graduates one arm and then drap it over the other as you are not allowed to wear it over the military uniform.

We need to put this wrong BACK to what was normally done and give proper respect to military bound graduates.
