Since taking office in 2001, President Bush has issued signing statements on more than 750 new laws, declaring that he has the power to set aside the laws when they conflict with his legal interpretation of the Constitution. The federal government is instructed to follow the statements when it enforces the laws. Here are 10 examples and the dates Bush signed them:

I was having a dialogue with someone when the issue of Presidential Signing Statements came up.

I was hoping that a few FReeper Constitutional eggheads might consider helping to enlighten us all on the subject.

The first Google source I found was this article from coincidently the local rag which I never buy, and rarely visit their web page.

I also do not buy the Glob. Anyway, why didn't Bush just veto the bills which could be interpreted as unconstitutional?
