Possibly. I was kind of thinking along the lines of the Chinese curse: "May you live in interesting times."

Yes, we DO live in interesting times.

And I'm reminded of two other bits of ancient Chinese wisdom:

"Never try to teach a pig to sing. It just wastes your time and really annoys the pig."

And

"When the pupil is ready, the teacher will appear."
