Patrick Kennedy and Cynthia McKinney
American Thinker ^ | May 6th, 2006 | Thomas Lifson

Posted on 05/06/2006 7:46:14 AM PDT by george76

Cynthia McKinney’s reaction to the obvious and blatant favoritism enjoyed by Patrick Kennedy is likely to be something to savor.

She is already on the record about the indignities she received at the hand of a white cop.

But now she sees that for the white boy, supervisors stepped in, relieving the officers at the scene and driving the staggering Kennedy home.

She faces potential legal jeopardy, and now a rich white boy walks away without so much as a breathalyzer test from circumstances that would ordinarily demand a drunk driving investigation.

At least one cop reportedly says he smelled alcohol.

Never known for self-control or thoughtfulness, Representative McKinney is going to have a hard time keeping her mouth shut.

She could denounce favoritism, of course. But she is asking for favoritism herself, so that won’t work out too well. Even McKinney can see this.

So she will demand “equal treatment” – meaning equal immunity from the laws which govern the rest of us.

But that argument raises awkward questions for the rest of the United States Congress.

Who will be the first member of Congress to stand-up and demand hearings on the Capitol Police’s treatment of members of Congress?

Patrick Kennedy’s timing could not be better.

We are in for a treat as the mid-term elections loom in half a year.

The GOP’s opportunity has arrived.

I guess what comes to light out of both "incidents" of late, is that there seems be a bad smell coming from the Capitol Police :) I am sure the older guys have been around from the days when congress was a "nice country club," to work for :)... Now, there are so many damn people trying to look into how they run their damn business (protecting the club members), they can not do nothing anymore! Damn shame yeaah...

Seriously, the Capitol Police, should be on notice they will be watched carefully from now on. The explosion of the new media will see they follow the book to the letter or else. I am tired of these people (congress) getting away with so much. It's about time, the put the spot light on them FULL BLAST.

Does this help any ?

Police say they were prevented from giving Kennedy a sobriety test

"The driver exited the vehicle and he was observed to be staggering," Officer Greg Baird, the acting head of the Capitol police union, wrote in a letter to his boss, according to the newspaper Roll Call.

Lou Cannon, president of the Washington chapter of the Fraternal Order of Police, said Kennedy looked intoxicated.

"It's my understanding that he had an odor of alcohol about him and he was unsteady on his feet," Cannon said.

The first thing congress critters should do is take a in depth course on the US Constitution, what it means and what they are supposed to do.

Instead of passing laws, hoping the courts will stop them, they should stop passing unconstitutional laws in the first place.

Frankly, I'd like to see a requirement that congress repeal two laws for every new one they pass. Not just federal either. States too. I'd love to know how many CO senators and representatives have ever read the CO Constitution? Few, if I had to guess.

There seem to be two groups of Capital Police.

The good old boys who protect the drunk Senators and Congressmen from the media and/or from the paid girl friends.

Versus the new police who came on since 9-11. The new 9-11 police likely want to defend America and do a good job.

Had this been a Republican, that poor soul would be in the Foreign Legion by now. Think of Mayor Berry - a disgraceful man but sooooo accepted by the elitist and politically correct in Washington; Cynthia McKinney, Carol Moseley-Braun, Rep. William J. Jefferson and others of color and members of the Black Caucus who are untouchable because of the color of their skin rather than what they have done that is inexcusable for a member of Federal or State governments – others are held accountable as they should be. The bias and double standards are clearly visible….Patrick’s dilemmas should have placed him in the unelectable column from the beginning - he wasn’t and this is the decay of the Democratic Party we are seeing more and more of. Name recognition by accident of birth, does not make you qualified run for office in fact it has weakened this country just as the name Clinton has dragged this nation down into uncharted depths of the political quest for power leaving the American citizen unanswered and unheard and unwanted….

All this hoopla notwithstanding, nothing has come of the Cynthia McKinney incident and nothing will come of the Patrick Kennedy incident.

For all McKinney's posturing, she's still a member of a very exclusive club. So is Kennedy. And anyway, they're both DimocRats. Anyone who holds their breath waiting for the other shoe to drop will be 6' under soon.

We're simply witnessing the type of treatment we common folk shouldn't expect if we ever go up against the law. Nice view from down here, isn't it?

Father leaves a young woman to die in his car. as he swims away and runs home for an all night damage control session. His punishment? "Teddy, you'll never be president"

Nephew gets shot down by a woman who apparently didn't care if he was "a Kennedy" or not and he most likely raped her. The media crucifies the girl.

Son follows in father's footsteps and he's shipped off to the Mayo clinic under an almost total media blackout.

Minority congresswoman shoves a security officer at work and waits to hear if she will be charged amidst a media circus.

And minorities continue to vote for this party why, exactly?

It's as if they have battered wife syndrome when it comes to politics.

I know I am going to be flamed mightily for this, but, it's too bad Sirhan-Sirhan and Oswald didn't have kids to carry on in their footsteps.

She actually has a valid gripe. White, male Patches hits a black, female LAX airport security guard and gets off. Black, female McKinney, who is actually on congressional business, (if we can use that as an excuse), is charged with assault for hitting a white, male security guard. Both are guilty, but only one is charged.

A) Kennedy was accused of pushing an elderly black security guard at LAX. City prosecutors ultimately decided not to bring criminal charges against him. But he paid an undisclosed civil settlement to the alleged victim almost two years later.

B) Cynthia McKinney has yet to be charged with anything.

C) There were at least four other altercations with Capitol Hill police prior to this latest.

Other than those details, you got it exactly right.

I am laughing and rolling on the floor.

Here we have Hairless Rid of the Senate and Nancy Poopalosie of Congress yelling that the Republicans are a party of corruption.

Well now we know the truth, the Democrats are a party of arrogant elitist do nothing hypocrites and demagogues.

Politicians who will do nothing for America unless it personally affects their private fortunes in the positive.

While New Orleans was sinking into a stinking mess Democrat Congressman William Jefferson was using needed rescuers, not to save his fellow constituents but to save his documents from falling into the hands of federal investigators.

Federal law enforcement personnel are investigating Congressman Jefferson for several peccadillo's, not the least of which are bribery, misappropriation of funds and being just a regular Democrat lying scum bag politician.

Now we have the elitist arrogance of Paddy Kennedy a do nothing elitist from that great socialist minion of Road Island.

To say this Democrat was born with a silver spoon in his mouth would be a misnomer.

This poor sap was saddled with a philandering drunk for a dad.

Of course big fat Cynthia is going to play the race card and why not?

McKinney is such a racists herself that she is blinded to the hypocrisy that she exudes to those who are not racists.

Of course the Democrats do not have the patten on corruption but their working on getting the giant share.

I find it somewhat odd that when the Republicans find corruption they work to get the corrupt congress critter out but on the other hand the Democrats go into cover up, obstruction and denial mode.

Ted Kennedy should have tried for murder or manslaughter years ago and driven out of the Senate.

We lived in the DC area at that time. The TV stations, radio stations, fish wraps and of course Time and NewsWeak were defending this "brave young senator" from the git go.
