Rep. John Murtha (D-Pa.) travels to Evanston for a forum with Rep. Jan Schakowsky (D-Ill.) on Iraq at 2:45 p.m. Sunday at Northwestern University's Norris Center
Murtha and Schakowsky on Iraq
Murtha and Schakowsky came to the Iraq war from opposite perspectives. The former Marine, the ranking Democrat on the House Defense Appropriations panel who backed the war, triggered a national debate last November when he called for the U.S. to pull its troops from Iraq.
Schakowsky voted against the war and is a leader of the House "Out of Iraq'' caucus.
Murtha, in a separate event, will also headline a political fund-raiser for Schakowsky.

I have not been so upset at my fellow Americans since I was told I could not wear my uniform during the Vietnam war because demonstrators out side the gates of the base would probably do something to me.
Being a retired career military man I sit here today, in great disgust, of what has been happening in OUR country this week . Our heros must be turning over in their graves. We must let the illegal immigrants and the people of this world that we will not let anyone live here who did not earn the honor legally.
Not being an activist, I cannot gather over a million people at the drop of a hat. In fact I would not want the people to demonstrate at all. The only way I know how to get people involved is asking all the military group I could find to put the word out for me. All of you have branches spread out over this country and can contact them in a heartbeat.
All I ask of you is to forward this e-mail to them and let thing go as they may.
Here is what I would like to see happen. On July 4th, 2006 at 12 noon EST all AMERICANS blow your horn, wave an American flag , pledge allegiance to the flag or sing the National Anthem to let people know that AMERICANS are alive and well and will not have foreigners tell us how to run OUR country.
I know most Americans will just go enjoy their holiday but hopefully some will participate and then go enjoy time with their family.
Please try and not have any politicians attend any of your gathering because I say they are the ones who fell asleep at the helm and what is happening today is their fault.
I hope you can help me in this crucial time in our lives and I think we all know how important this matter is to OUR country.
