Lawyer for Moussaoui's mother vows to push for his return to France

The lawyer for Zacarias Moussaoui's mother expressed delight Wednesday that the Frenchman was spared the death penalty, and vowed to lead a legal battle to bring the al-Qaida conspirator home.

A federal jury in Alexandria, Va., on Wednesday decided Moussaoui should spend life in prison for his role in the Sept. 11, 2001 attack, rejecting the government's appeal for death.

Moussaoui, a Frenchman of Moroccan descent, is the only person charged in the United States in connection with the four suicide jetliner hijackings that killed nearly 3,000 people.

"We will pursue unrelentingly a request to French authorities that they demand a return of Zacarias Moussaoui to France," said Patrick Baudouin, the lawyer for Moussaoui's mother, Aicha El Wafi. "So the fight isn't over — far from it — it is only beginning."

I just knew something like this would happen. Our legal system is simply not set up to handle terrorists. He should have faced a tribunal.

If France knows what's good for them, they'll let us hang onto him.

The last thing we need is for another terrorist to be given room, board, and a million dollars if he promises to hang up his suicide bomber's belt.

Terrorist needs his mommy?

How pathetic.

"I've come to unleash jihad on you. Um... Er... wait, mom, can you help me get back to France?"

Nah - shipping would cost too much. How about an urn?

But, but, but.....I thought she mistreated and abused him as a child.

And here we go.

He should have never been tried in a civilian court.

Is it just me or is this country insane? The same jury that makes a specific finding that this murdering bastard was involved in the planning of 9/11 then doesn't kill him? People actually promoting amnesty for illegal invaders? Including our President? No permanent tax cuts? What the hell is happening to the country I love?

The French will set him free in a heartbeat, since they're convinced there wasn't really a terrorist attack.

What's this? He has a loving mother? How can that be?

Too bad the firing squad didn't take care of our problem.

Next to crucifixion, the "dry sponge sparky" (as seen in The Green Mile) is the next best thing. You have to give the Romans credit, they were the technological experts of healing and hurting in their time.

I think it's safe to say that most muslim children have something less than a good childhood. Growing up learning to hate 2/3+ of the world doesn't seem as if it would lend itself to normal development.

If I may add a bit of logic to a topic fraught with emotion.

Terry McNichols is in jail. He was clearly McVeigh's accomplice. He didn't warn anyone either.

There was never the possibility that he, too, would be given the death penalty.

While my head says that the verdict was correct, my heart wants the man DEAD.

The trouble with Mommy Dearest is that she will become the darling of our America hating media.
