Iran says does not "give a damn" about UN resolution

TEHRAN (Reuters) - Iran's president said on Friday his country would pay no attention to international calls to halt its nuclear work, hours before the U.N. atomic watchdog reports on whether Tehran has met U.N. Security Council demands.

"Those who want to prevent Iranians from obtaining their right, should know that we do not give a damn to such resolutions," Mahmoud Ahmadinejad told a rally in northwest Iran, the official IRNA news agency reported.

Mohamed ElBaradei, chief of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), is widely expected to tell the council and the agency's board on Friday that Iran has not stopped enriching uranium or fully answered IAEA queries as the U.N. body asked a month ago.

The West accuses Iran of pursuing a civilian nuclear programme as a cover to acquire atomic bomb. Tehran denies it.

"Enemies think that by ... threatening us, launching psychological warfare or ... imposing embargos can dissuade our nation to obtain nuclear technology," Ahmadinejad said in Zanjan province.

Iran said this month it had enriched uranium to the level used in power stations for the first time and has vowed to pursue large-scale enrichment of uranium.

Frankly my dears, something we can all agree on: UN is a joke.

Hitler could have conquered all of Europe without firing a shot if he had to deal with today's UN.

...apparently! According to the following, the UN Security Council allowed Iranians to do something very strange in their presence, but we haven't figured out what it is, yet.

I'm not sure how Bush should handle this deal. If Iran cuts off oil to retaliate against sanctions, the speculators will drive the price of oil to dangerous levels, with all that implies. This nut-case of an Iranian president is holding pocket rockets and he knows it.

The liberals are jumping for joy seeing their "new hero" Ahmadinejad aka the guy in Iran standing up to the imperialist racist (still get a laugh from that one) West.

It's not like the UN has a great track record enforcing their own "resolutions". And if you really want Iran to fall on the floor laughing, all the UN has to do is threaten them with "severe consequences".

Bush will fail the test...

Europe...who cares?

Israel....will do what is required to survive...their administration, like ours, is willing to sacrifice citizens by inaction...ours is simply willing to sacrifice more...

There are no positive options.

Sometimes you just have to do what needs doin regardless of the consequences. It will only be more difficult later.

"Iran says does not "give a damn" about UN resolution"

- Yawn. What else is new? Besides, why should they? UN resolutions mean diddly squat. They have no power to enforce anything. It's all a bunch of hot air with a limp-wrist, sissy light blue flag. The UN is a global toilet bowl for flushing money away at best and a co-conspirator and aid and abettor to dictators and thugs at worst. When are we going to realize that the UN is our enemy as well and pull the plug on them? I'm sick of funding and housing a union of half-wit thugs, third world shithole countries and vain ignorant socialist & commie failures. Get the F'ing UN out of America and build a new coalition of free states with rigid rules for membership; only free, constitutional, capitalist, democratic governments need apply.

" Bush will fail the test"

At least until the Nov. elections. Bush won't do a thing until then.

After that the decision will be based the calculated resonses of Russia and China, IMO.
