WASHINGTON — Tony Snow will be named new White House press secretary on Wednesday morning, FOX News has learned. Snow is expected to be at the White House for the announcement. He has been mulling the offer for the last several days.

Now if there was any doubt, Jack Snow is leaving as treasury secretary. It is an unwritten rule that you cannot have two cabinet secretaries (I know technically press secretary isn't a cabinet position, but in many ways its more important)so therefore the Treas Sec is going. The question now is who gets the Snow job?
I have been following this here on FR for the last 24 hours or so.. and just heard it confirmed on FOX news.. Off in the distance, I hear the sound of tiny little heads exploding!!! and then.. exploding again!!!

Snow will make an excellent spokesman, no doubt.
His appointment is disturbing for two reasons.
First, W has once again done something essentially meaningless to thrill the hearts of conservatives too naive to realize that it is an empty gesture. Look at the resopnses on this thread, and then ask yourself, what difference does Snow make? The answer is, the responses on this thread.
Second, it is disturbing to see Snow in this position because Snow is a stand-up guy. If I were Snow, I would take the position also. It is just too good for a media guy. There is nothing morally or ethically wrong about it. But it demonstrates a lack of integrity, if Snow realizes that he is being used.
I think Tony is too weak for the job. We needed a more hard hitting spokesman. A Newt Gingrich or something similar.

I think W picked Tony because he is a good choice for the job. Bush has a track record of doing what he wants without regard for polls - left or right. He certainly has demonstrated his independence time and time again. He is not up for reelection. So I am sure where you get off challenging Bush's motives. The idea he picked a WH spokesmen to satisfy some group is bizarre. So I summarily dismiss your points as bitter cynicism.
OK Tony, we want you exercising every day, make sure you take ALL your vitamins, we need you strong and healthy.
