A California bill that would make sportsmen who hunt with dogs and pet owners whose dogs have run-ins with backyard wildlife vulnerable to prosecution is advancing in the state legislature.
On April 4, the Assembly Public Safety Committee voted 4 to 3 in favor of AB 2110, sponsored by Assemblywoman Loni Hancock, D-El Cerrito. The bill was proposed to ban open field coursing events with sighthounds. Its vague wording could easily leave waterfowl and upland game hunters vulnerable to prosecution when they use retriever dogs in the field. Assembly Bill 2110 now moves to the Assembly Appropriations Committee for debate.
Aside from prohibiting field coursing, AB 2110 would prohibit dogs from being untethered and chasing animals, and allow prosecution if a dog kills an animal. It could even be construed so that a dog owner would be subject to prosecution if his dog chases or kills a rabbit in a backyard or at the park.
Take Action! California sportsmen and dog owners should continue to vehemently oppose AB 2110. Contact your Assembly member and members of the Appropriations Committee to let them know the bill will threaten sportsmen and law abiding citizens whose dogs have run-ins with rabbits and other wildlife. Even if you have made one call, call again to remind your Assembly member of your opposition to the bill. More bad news for California!
Dog ownership to become a crime...
Marxist Relativism is alive and well. A man is a boy is a dog is a rat.
Oh Poop - the cats dragged in another mouse - quick , where should I hide the body - what if Fish and Game finds it?
Ready to 'do time' for your dog's crimes?
When comes to hunting predators...a dog is indispensable... no wonder the human hating earth worshipers....don't want dogs helping mankind..man is more vulnerable without his 'best friend'
The illegal alien home invaders, rapists, murderers, burglars have a tougher time plying their trade with a good dog on duty the Marxist One Worlders who hate the USA and American middle class have to hate our four legged canine protectors too...
imo
Damn the Democrats........they have NOTHING better to do than to impose more nanny state bulls**t upon clueless citizens.
That's pure animal cruelty. Hunting dogs are bred to hunt. Most dogs are unhappy creatures if they aren't able to work.
It must be something in the water.
I got fed up with the endless anti-gun laws. I can just imagine the trouble I would have with 4 Rat Terriers ready to pounce. Before we left Mira Mesa, my wife had a Jack Russell Terrier to flush rabbits for her Red Tail Hawk. She had to pass a firearms safety course to get the hunting license to use with the hawk. That made her eligible to buy firearms...which she has done with frequency. Unintended consequences.
Are you aware of where FreeRepublic is located?
When dogs are outlawed...
Time for the Outdoor Channel to move out of its Temecula, CA headquarters.
It won't be long...
Yes, Fresno. I was not implying everyone in CA is a moron, just the people that make up stupid ass laws like this.
Here is a California coyote:
Here is a California chihuahua:
Is there any doubt.
Maybe dog owners and hunters with dogs should show up at the state capital by the 10's of thousands ... then unleash them and point to the building and say "Sic'em boy!".
Now that would be a sight.
