I honestly believe there is only one answer. American citizens must counter-protest in even greater numbers than what we saw Monday. It won't happen, of course, but it's the only thing that would be a sufficient counterweight to what we saw yesterday across the nation.

Is it better that they are waving American flags instead of Mexican? Yeah probably. But the point I got out of the demonstrators was, "My God, look at how ineffectual our government is at one of it's most important duties of protecting our borders."

This is a direct result of the executive branch doing NOTHING (Clinton & Bush) with respect to employer sanctions, and Congress (Look in the mirror McCain) staying silent until this issue has bubbled over to this. How do you deport 20 million Illegal Aliens? One at a time. After all what are taxes for? WIC vouchers for Criminal Aliens?

Only `free global market' libertarians define immigration as lacking basic controls, that is, our immigration laws.
It bears repeating (and as often as necessary) that foreign nationals entering the USA without permission, i.e. Mexicans `sneaking' across our border, is in violation of our laws.
Then demanding the rights of our citizens is sheer effrontery.
Either change the laws or enforce them.

And if all these people (who are not U.S. citizens) were protesting in Mexico and putting their efforts into changing their own government, maybe they wouldn't need to come to the U.S.

I would be there holding my American flag high and burning the Mexican flag. This issue is getting me to the point of constant anxiety and anger.

My Italian grandparents migrated here from Sicily in the early part of the 20th century and took the legal route to becoming American citizens. These ingrates from south of the border want us to just pretend like they came here and waited in line by proposing amnesty. That would be the greatest failure of this century (amnesty), and it would be a decision that would turn the tide of politics in this country in a direction more than likely seen as unfavorable by a majority of the people on FR.

There was a rally here in Tampa outside the NY Yankees spring training stadium. To say I'm racist would be a gross misstatement, but not being able to order food at a restaurant because the waiter doesn't understand me or having to choose what language I want to use at an ATM is tantamount to usurpation of my and my country's sovereignty and right to say our official language is English. Get the fsck out of my country if you don't want to speak the language!

Thanks for the montage of photos Wolf.....it is sad that the 298 MILLION American's won't/can't do the same. We need to do something monetary....because that's the ONLY way our Congress reps will listen....maybe I'm dreaming, but since a lot of those 298 MILLION work, if EVERYONE went to their payroll dept/person and increased their W-2 allowances to the max of 10, there would be an impact in how much the government gets from us each month. (They'd get substantially less).

I'm sad to be realizing that our voices - the voices of the MAJORITY of (legal) AMERICANS don't count with any of them.

I'm feeling betrayed by my own government - I don't have any rights anymore.

The color of my skin, the language that I speak, the clothes that I wear, the values that I hold - they are American - and slowly, piece by piece, I am pressured to feel guilty and watch all that I've worked so hard as a single mother to achieve be taken away.

NO! We NEED to join the Minutemen and others to stand up for what we believe or what we've been willing to share for years will be GIVEN AWAY like it's NOTHING!!
