Little Things Can Mean A Lot
After I had been there a few weeks, I noticed that several Iraqi families had moved into tents right next to ours. It wasn't long before some of the people in my unit began to interact with the families. We soon found out why they were living by us... More... By Tim Boggs - 4/9/06

I'm on Mike Yon's mailing list and he's got a new site. There's an article (excerpted above) which should be REQUIRED reading for everybody who supports our soldiers. I'm just passing it on. :-)

No problem....I felt it really had to be posted. The story about the soldiers and the family is such a good one....so unlike anything we see and hear through the cursed and vile MSM. Be careful or it will bring you to tears. :-)

I firmly agree with the writer of the story that we will see our greatest hope in the Iraqi children.

"All soldiers I know have a heart for the kids in Iraq and for the suffering they have gone through. Many of our greatest efforts have gone toward helping them live a better life, whether it is rebuilding their schools, giving them toys and candy, getting them proper medical attention, or simply playing games with them. My hope for Iraq lies in the next generation. Through the efforts of some amazing soldiers, I believe a seed has been planted that will one day bloom into a mass of young children raised on knowing the kindness and gentleness of American soldiers. When that time comes I believe we will finally enjoy the fruits of our labor in the Middle East."
Thanks for posting

Thank you, hiredhand, for posting this beautiful story. Through their acts of kindness this soldier and his friends are truly building a country, not destroying it.

I have to agree with you on this. These soldiers are going to leave positive lasting impressions on these kids...who will grow up and remember that there's a better way!

These first hand accounts from our soldiers need WIDEST visibility. In spite of the rhetoric of the lefties and the MSM, the absolute worst thing we could do is pull out of that place and leave a bunch of kids who resent us for it. It's one thing to have adults who resent you. In 40 years, they'll be too old to do much about it anymore. But the kids are the future!
The leftists know this and practice the same strategy. It's why the NEA and pro homosexual interest groups have such a foothold in much of the public shool system here in America. They know the value of having the attention of the children.

Thanks for sharing. His reports from his last trip were among the best war reporting I have read.

If there is any great and lasting hope to be found in Iraq, it's found in those kids. I've swapped a little e-mail with Mike Yon...although it's been awhile. He was pretty talkative up until the time that his work gained more visibility and he got BUSY. But I sent him a message about this...we'll see what he says. :-)
