This is starting to look more like a "shake down" for a quick pay-off every day.

Really? What kind of payoff do women typically get after falsely accusing college students of rape?

I don't know what happened that night, and neither do you. But I think automatically assuming the alleged victim could gain from this accusation is pretty silly.

said he would not release the photos, taken by at least two cameras, until pending DNA tests are completed.

At least two cameras now taking photos - that is a new fact.

I think it will turn out for these students that they were very, very fortunate that some of them were taking photos of the the event.

A friend of mine is at Duke and told me the same thing yesterday. The DA is up for re-election and could he be trying to re-elected ?? HMM !! The e-mail written by the Lax player was idiotic, but my God, how many stupid things at 19 years old have we done that would horrify you if the press got hold of it. I heard there were many e-mails which were written after the alleged rape which made no mention of anything bad that went on. Does the DA or press say anything ?? of course not. This does not mean there was no rape, but the press starts out with a story and find the facts to make that happen.

Just an observation. The article states..."Time-stamped photographs will show an exotic dancer was already injured and "very impaired"...."

How does a "very impaired" person remember to leave evidence behind such as: "...where police later found her purse, cell phone, and several artificial fingernails she claimed to have lost during a struggle with her attackers."

Seems she was not so impaired as to be sly enough to leave evidence behind.
So was she 'very impaired'?
Or is she telling the truth?

I had some sympathy for this "female" until this. I didn't care if she was a stripper and falling-down drunk. She was attacked and gang-raped. But in light of this ... even the "rape" could have been consensual.

Oh please...

I'm sorry, but that "fantasy" email from one of the lacrosse students was pretty sick in my book, and will be quite damaging to the defense.

Yes it does. Just wondering if this turns out to be true, will the president of Duke be the next to be fired? I've never heard of a team's season being canceled because of the actions of three members. And what was the reason that the coach was fired?

more detail:

/excerpt

Cheshire said the time-stamped photos have a 27-minute gap between when the two women stopped dancing and when the accuser was photographed outside the house. During that period, the dancers locked themselves in a bathroom and then went outside, he said.

/snip

He gave the following description of the photographs. In the first, the accuser is prone on the floor, her face in the carpet. The other photos show her on the floor, on all fours or on her back. The other dancer is on her feet for all the photos. The lacrosse players line the room, drinking out of beer cans and plastic cups, and one photo shows a player unconscious on the floor, his shorts pulled down and his underwear wet.

"The photographs show the accuser has bruises and cuts on her arms, legs and feet," Cheshire said. "These are visible at the very start of the dance."

The dance lasted less than four minutes, Cheshire said, when the second dancer stopped the performance after an offensive remark from a player.

There are no photos for the next 27 minutes. During this time, Cheshire said the women locked themselves in a bathroom while one of the captains tried to persuade them to continue the show. Some players accused the women of pocketing the $800 fee and not performing. The dancers then left the house, he said.

Cheshire said the next photographs show the accuser on the back porch, fumbling through her purse. One shows her smiling at the photographer. She is still in her negligee, which does not appear torn or damaged, Cheshire said.

The next photo, six minutes later, shows her passed out on her side on the back porch, he said.

Cheshire said the final photograph, taken three minutes later, shows a team captain helping the accuser into the other dancer's car.

"There was no rape in this house. It didn't happen," Cheshire said.

I think the President of Duke University should resign, but I doubt that he will.

LAXers looking more innocent by the day. If this is a shakedown, that "college student/exotic dancer" should do some hard time. Ruined their lives...their college experience...their LAX season. (But if she is telling the truth, they obviously deserved the heat).

"Whether I want to believe it, or whether you want to believe it, something took place in there," said Johnny Williamson, 36, of Durham. "Something indecent took place."

I do find it interesting that the players all provided their DNA samples. What happens if none of them match the semen found in the victim? I agree there has been a rush to judgment.
