Houston police arrested 26 teenagers for curfew violations today in the latest round of local immigration reform protests.
Police intercepted about 100 marching students from Madison High School about 10:30 a.m. in the 1100 block of South Post Oak.
"They tried to recruit some students from Dowling Middle School," Houston police spokesman Capt. Dwayne Ready said.
Police said today's protest is presenting more safety concerns than was evident during the earlier marches.
The 26 were taken into custody and will be processed for the curfew violations at HPD's juvenile division, Ready said.
An adult man who was with the teens also was arrested hindering traffic, Ready said.
In addition to the arrests by city police, HISD police officers issed 67 curfew violation citations to students engaged in the walkout, said school district spokesman Terry Abbott.

Who was this adult that was arrested? Middle school students are too young to drive themselves to these protests.

Expelling those idiots from the HISD schools might actually improve the school performance reports.

They don't really expect them to have respect for our laws now do they.

Yesterday, LAPD officers started handing out truancy citations to students at these rallies who could be proved to be skipping class. Up to $200 a pop.

This is a way not to attend school. Plain and simple...nothing to do with illegals. Just a great excuse for these kids to cut school. Geezzz...can't believe anyone including parents would fall for this total BS.

It's a good start...but HISD needs to be purged of all the whack job teachers and administrators that inspire such behavior.

950 KPRC Radio talk shows were on fire today about these students and their walk outs. I've never heard so many p*ssed off people calling in and it was music to my ears. Evidently, the mayor and police chief have gotten the message loud and clear that we're not going to put up with these stupid kids and their antics, blocking traffic and waving their Mexican flags in our faces.
Another big brouhaha happened today when a principal from Reagan High School (of all schools), allowed students to run the Mexican flag up the flagpole at their school! I'm hoping he'll lose his job over it, but he may get lucky with just a severe reprimand.

HISD needs to be purged of all the whack job teachers and administrators that inspire such behavior. I didn't think any of them were interested enough to inspire anything.

Dammit! That'll show 'em!
I wish these people were in charge back in the sixties! Those good ole Jim Crow laws would still be enforced. I sure do miss those laws.

You may want to tell that to Houston's Reagan High School Principal Robert Pambello who had to be ordered to remove a Mexican flag he flew at the school.

Sadly, only the whack job ones are willing to put in the effort since it's to their advantage to brainwash the youth.
