The US bishops do not speak "for the Church" as a whole.

Wanna bet? There's no doubt, to me, that Benedict XVI would approve of the approach the US Bishops have adopted toward immigration. As would most every bishop in every other country.

It's common knowledge that the Catholic Church has taken a big hit in the collection plate business.

The Church did take a hit immediately following the Boston revelations in 2002, but collections are right back up to where they were, and a little ahead, in most dioceses.

Yes, some of the Protestant churches certainly are enamored with illegal aliens. Perhaps deviant ministers and priests want diversion from their perversions. I also recall the National Council of Churches supporting Rev. Jim Jones and Marxist fractions in Africa. Jones also was listed among the "100 Outstanding Clergy in American."

The Bishop, Cardinal, whatever, that was urging Catholics to ignore immigration laws, should be arrested for his remarks

Yeah. That'll go over real well.

Not.

I should have a button made which simply says "2241" and wear it to Mass!! LOL!!

What a great idea!

Make a bunch of 'em. I bet many Conservative Catholics on FR would want to buy them from you too!

Ted Kennedys stance on abortion comes directly from Rome.

That's right out of Jack Chick.

Just curious (and sincerely interested): how many sermons have you heard at Mass in Mexico about the duty to "procreate, procreate, procreate"?

So? I also disagree with Gingrich on his analysis of Islam and radical vs moderate.

The drop in Catholic fund-raising due to the church's sex scandals left the IRA short of money, and ultimately to the bargaining table with the British government. Guess they are now using their free time to buck the US legal system on behalf of illegals.

Once again, they will use the moneys they receive from faithful Catholics to promote public policies which are against the values of their congregations.

It's good to be good and it's nice to be nice.

They really say it that way?

My priest says "It's good to be nice and it's nice to be good." There's more variety there.

The Church (and true conservative Catholics) has been battling the Marxist "Liberation Theology" scourge in Central and other parts of Latin America for a long time. It is contrary to Church teachings. The US bishops do not speak "for the Church" as a whole.

And we will continue to 'battle' them and their errors.

Far too many bishops are concerned with being the Pope of their own diocese and making changes for changes' sake, pumped up with their own self importance. Wrecking lives along the way.

I'm soooo pleased the the Marxist 'Liberation Theology' that was so rampant and divisive in the 70's and 80's is alive and well and poisoning another generation. (excessive sarcasm slathered on).

In my state it would be a shock to the Bishop to hear anything about catechism.

The Catholic college regularly invites the likes of McGreevy and Hilary Clinton to be guest speakers.

Wanna bet? There's no doubt, to me, that Benedict XVI would approve of the approach the US Bishops have adopted toward immigration.

Are you actually saying that Benedict XVI would approve actions contrary to the teachings of part 2241 in the Catachism of the Catholic Church?

See, that's the problem right there, Sink. To you, every bishop is for illegal immigration.

Key word here folks, per Sinkspur. "To me."

Your perception, as usual, is entirely warped. You never fail to disappoint me.

"In my state it would be a shock to the Bishop to hear anything about catechism."

All the more reason to do a little remedial CCD teaching: the dear old gentleman could invite the whole Chancery to come and take notes....

Far too many bishops are concerned with being the Pope of their own diocese and making changes for changes' sake, pumped up with their own self importance. Wrecking lives along the way.

Which is why the Holy Father needs to start calling bishops to the Vatican and "laying down the law." Those who do not obey need to have their dioceses taken away (I cannot recall the term for removing a bishop), and if necessary defrocked and even excommunicated.
