As one of the premier initiatives of the Patrick Henry Centers mission, we have been seeking to foster conservative political action among conscientious students on campuses across the country. It just so happens that one of those schools is the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hillwhich we chose for its notorious promotion of politically correct policies above free speech and intellectual diversity. Unfortunately, it has become notorious for something much more harrowing in recent days. In an obvious case of terrorism, a Muslim alumnus of the school attempted to run down and kill a large crowd of students in a popular meeting area on campus.
However, the schools hard-left, P.C. mentality has not allowed the chancellor to provide a sufficient response to the incident. Indeed, he will still not even acknowledge the heinous act as one of terrorism!
In an act of brave political courage that would make Patrick Henry himself proud, our own affiliated Student Leaders immediately took action to make sure this policy would not stand. They drafted the following impassioned yet well-reasoned and factual rebuttal to the chancellors anemic response and enlisted the Patrick Henry Centers help to sponsor the letters mailing to the UNC Boards of Visitors, Governors, Trustees, and the North Carolina State Legislature.
We also thought the letter was of resonance in the entire nation. So, I decided to make it available in my own op-ed column as to provide an example of just the type of political bravery and forthrightness that is fomenting across the country in response to the knee-jerk blame America first crowd in control of the academy. With this type of brave whistle blowing going on in the classroom, I think we can all be confident in the future of our nation.
I was born a Tarheel, with nine generations of Tarheels in my family before me. But the actions of the UNC and state leaders in the aftermath of this TERRORIST attack make me more happy to say,
I'M NOW A VIRGINIAN.
