Kristinn Taylor of Free Republic and Stephen Cleghorn of Military Families Speak Out appeared on Hardball this evening to discuss the pro-War and anti-War message. Free Republic supports the War, while Military Families Speak Out is against the war and wants to pull our troops out of Iraq immediately. Both guests have family members serving in either Iraq or Afghanistan.

At one point in the interview Matthews and Taylor were discussing bin Laden’s presence in the Middle East. Kristinn says that bin Laden t-shirts are the equivalent of Che Guevara t-shirts in America. People who wear them use it as a sign to stick it to the authority. Matthews disagrees, however says that his own kids wear Che Guevara t-shirts:

MATTHEWS: I’m confounded as well as you are, by kids wearing, when i meet them in East Africa, kids wearing bin Laden t-shirts and baseball hats and having posters of the guy in the store fronts. I’m confounded too, because the only thing we know is that he bombed us.

TAYLOR: Kids wear Che Guevara shirts in the United States.

MATTHEWS: They’re kind of cute at this point. They’re not about to get us now. I think there is a difference. That’s kind of camp almost. Isn’t it?

TAYLOR: No. No. Bin laden is the ultimate symbol of sticking it to authority.

MATTHEWS: Is Che Guevara the symbol of hating the United States, anymore?

TAYLOR: Yeah.

MATTHEWS: I don’t think so; a lot of our kids wear them. I see kids wearing them all the time, my kids wear them. It’s like a Robert Marley t-shirt at this point. I do know that bin Laden’s known for one thing, blowing up 3,000 people.

A suggestion, you lefties might want to send a message to the big media to stop calling them "Insurgents" then. Oh wait, they know the truth... nevermind. Insurgents, not Iraqi freedom fighters. Pay attention to their choice of wording. These "Iraqi citizens" that you mention come from Syria, Iran, and as far away as the U.S. (what, you think you can't hop on a plane too?) to fight the infidels in Iraq.

But then, you've spoken with the hostages we've taken, correct? You're well acquainted with their dialects, and that their governments support their presence by providing transport to the border, I'm sure.

Do not let the Left frame the debate by adopting their terminology.

I would strongly suggest to Kristinn or any other spokesmen to categorically reject being tarred with the moniker "pro-war." For one thing, it flatters an enemy that is holding no territory to be described as participating in a war.

Second, the only people who are for 'the war' are those who are perpetuating bloodshed in order to install another terrorist-friendly dictatorship to replace the previous one.

The coalition -- from the troops to the commanders to the civilian leadership -- are NOT pro-war. Neither are the vast majority of the Iraqi people. They are doing their damndest to end the violence so that we can bring our troops home, give the Iraqis back their country and concentrate our resources upon rebuilding and fostering democracy.

One can be FOR having forcibly removed Saddam. One can be FOR a precipitous withdrawal, followed by a bloody civil war, followed by OBL being triumphantly carried into Baghdad. One can be FOR staying until Iraq is stable, peaceful and self-sustaining.

Given that the loss of life was far greater under Saddam, it can hardly be argued that Iraq was at peace prior to his ouster.

These are the types of things that must be said if asked if one is FOR 'the war.'
