This is a kid that finally realized that after 4 years and $100,000 spent getting a double major degree in philosophy and psychology, he is still gonna have to work the fryolator at McDonalds for the rest of his life, because he hasn't shown enough mathematical aptitude or education to get to work the cash register.

IIRC, if the kid is tried and found guilty of terrorism, the death penalty awaits him. I would rather flip burgers than take a seat in old sparky.

While exceptions often prove the Rule there is NO doubt that the vast majority of terrorist acts are by the followers of Mad MO. It can be in America, Africa, India, Europe, the Middle East, Asia, Russia or any of a hundred other places.
Islam is deadly and has been in a war against the World for almost 1400 years. THAT is unique.
TIME TO REVIVE THE CRUSADES
Those who think that making other, potentially hostile, nations dependent on our market will insure our safety, make serious errors of judgment regarding human nature. Money and wealth, even at the national level, have never overridden idealistic emotional causes.
Muslim countries believe in something that is the polar opposite of Christianity. Example:
Muslim works to get to heaven vs Christian grace to get to heaven
Muslim conversion by man vs Christian conversion by spirit
Muslim "moon god" vs Christian "son god"
Muslim "Allah's will" vs Christian "free choice"
Mohammed on the other hand - himself was a cruel man who committed numerous atrocities and created a religion based not on love, but cruelty to non-believers. And, that god will attract all that worship at the altar of depravity, cruelty, torture, and death to others.
Leaving aside the religious differences, Islam kills every society it comes in contact with. It instills fatalism, a virtual caste system because of its hereditary religious structure, and induces total paralysis because of its hatred of music, art and creativity.
Personally, I liked this distinction attributed to John Ashcroft:

Allah demands Muslims send their only son to die for him.
The Western-Christian world view deals with the issues of guilt and salvation, a concept that is completely unimportant in the East.
Instead, great importance is given to 'honor'. I consider that to be problematic. But of course it is underestimated how many Islamists consciously or unconsciously attempt to restore lost honor.
It is critical to remember that in Islam you can’t simply ask Allah for forgiveness, he requires action not remorse. Mohammed was a prophet not a savior so you can’t ask him for forgiveness or salvation either.
However the Koran does offer a path to salvation and redemption through jihad. Engaging in jihad is the only way to be forgiven for all your past sins.
I graduated from UNC in 1980. Back then there was about a 50-50 split libs to intelligent people. Outside our student union and undergrad library was a sunken bricked courtyard which everyone referred to as "the pit". At the time there were a goodly number of Iranian students there courtesy of Uncle Sam, most were engineers (NC State had a lot too, mostly petroleum engineers). One sunny afternoon, four of these idiots decided to get up and publicly criticize the President and the US, shaking their fists in defiance. Keep in mind this is in the middle of the Iranian hostage crisis. Now, UNC has a Navy ROTC unit where about half the middies were "Marine option". Out of nowhere, 6 of these future members of Uncle Sam's Misguided Children snatched these dumbasses up and carted them off. All 4 wound up at NCMH (the teaching hospital on campus) in the ICU. One of them almost died. No charges were ever brought. It seems, that in the midst of the hostage crisis, no one gave a crap about whether some Iranians got beaten within an inch of their miserable lives...... of course time have changed......
I agree, he is a fruitcake wannabe terrorist looking for attention. A serious terrorist wouldn't peacefully turn himself into police.

America coming to Muslims aid in Yugoslavia? America letting thousands fleeing their homelands into America to live free. America giving financial aid to dozens of Muslim countries. America(ns) dishing out food and aid to disaster areas with predominant Muslim populations?

If they were just rebellious, we could deal with that. The relioious motive however is more frightening because we are dealing here with Islamio-fascism. We, the West, are in for the fight of our life. It's coming. They're planning.
