Ignorance of basic physics, coupled with religion-based delusions, is a DANGEROUS combination.

I am in complete agreement with you. When they decide to show us that they are invincible and untouchable, we will have no choice but to show them that they are not.

Does this mean we're now on double secret probation again with Iran? Ooh, I'm shaking.

Face it, Flounder. You threw up ON Dean Ahmanidajob. =)

Any one branch of our Armed Forces could exterminate all human life in Iran. I hate to take sides, but one or two could do it faster than the others. But they are all superb.

Has anyone considered the Cuban option? Chavez has made strong alliances as the middle man. A gathering of our enemies is just a few miles South of Florida. Strategically speaking, that is where I would begin my initial launch. (Cuban conspiracy, I know).

There's a chance it will get very hot that region pretty soon (10 million degrees in Tehran perhaps), esp after march 15th when they start selling oil for Euros instead of dollars.

EXACTLY! In a saner world w/o LIBERALS and DIMocRAts, we'd be taking these POS muzzies out back to the wood shed for a good thumping. Amazing how the events of 9/11 have disappeared from the LIBERALS' minds so quickly!

I'm not sure what WMD has to do with the Iranian threat....

I believe that Iran could sponsor/commit some sort of terrorist attack. I have no doubt that they could make it chemical, or radiological, if they wanted to. The question becomes one of tolerance - in other words, how much retaliation are they willing to tolerate?

There is no doubt in my mind that if they attacked with WMD, the Western world would first bomb to oblivion any infrastructure which could support their war-making, then finish the job by occupying the country, and rooting out any elements of the former government.

It's that old "bringing a knife to a gunfight" thing. Iran has no hope of holding their own against a concerted attack and invasion, and I think they know it. They may be insane, but they're not stupid. The current saber-rattling is purely an attempt to gain face in their own circles. They think that the US is too busy in Iraq to turn North, so they feel they can get away with the blustering and brinksmanship. It's my belief that they overestimate our tolerance of the saber rattling; I think they are about to find out, with measures short of military. As long as they don't pull any overt violent act, the international community won't retaliate militarily.

Israel, on the other hand, may not wait....

You don't know squat about the military that I know. As for supporting my fellow military personal, you have no idea my level of support, which is beyond question. My comments HAVE nothing to do whatsoever about the ABILITIES of the military. I said they were thin because of all the other deployments. Until you LEARN to understand what someone is saying, try shutting up.

Gees i'm sorry that i offended you.

You know i am not even going to dignify what your response was to me.

first of all i have been attached to the military establishment for almost twenty years including time in the marine corps as a military man and almost twenty years attached as a civilian employee to the Us navy and the marine corps.

There is a lot of things that go on at this marine corps base that are lot of normal civilians are not privy to.

Are you current or retired military ?

So i want to know what are you so hostile about ?

You can't take anything that is said here seriously.

Oh i forgot;

freerepublic website is one of those websites where average people bloviate about news and political events where they rant and rave about people and events they don't have any control over and all of the bloviating in the world does not solve a thing and is just a waste of time.

Politics is one of the biggest frauds around.

LIGHTEN UP.....

God bless you have a nice day!!

They have been due since Carter was President. Nobody but the French, Russians and Chinese even pretend to buy these lame 'we-need-nukes-for-energy' claims. Why are we waiting? Are we secretly hoping the Iranians will get compliance tips from Kim Jong-Il? I'm almost starting to imagine the plan is to let the Iranians get nukes so that Israel will be gone and so will Iran!

"IMO destroying Mecca will bring us nothing but grief. Sounds good to say it but not realistic. I dont see that happening even if the Muslims were to set off a nuke in the US."

I think you're so happy in Panama you're not thinking about this seriously--if Muslims drop a nuke anywhere in the U.S., Americans will be furious and vengeful to a degree unseen since Pearl Harbor. 9/11 was NOTHING compared to a nuke, and most Americans were and are still PISSED about 9/11. The Dubai debacle gives some notion of how pissed we are about having to worry about Arabs generally, and how we feel like the U.S. government isn't worrying when it should. Bush restrained Americans after 9/11, and helped the Arab states maintain an uneasy peace in the region by confining American retribution to Afghanistan and Iraq. But if a nuke blows in the U.S. and can be traced to Muslims, no President will be able to apologize for Muslim governments protecting extremism any more. After just one speaker blames the nuke on Muslim coddling of terrorists, Congress will demand it, and Mecca and the rest of the region will be such clear glass we'll be able to see the oil before we pump it.
