So if he has been sentenced than why bother going to trial again. If his crimes deserve the death sentence than they should pursue it. Who knows, folks in VA, may decide to abolish the death penalty.
Maybe someone can explain the point, I say his victim's in Maryland deserve the same resolution as those in Virginia.

He should be kicking air right now.

Sentence him to be a graveyard convenience store clerk in DC. No lawyer will be able to stop his execution.

Gansler is a panty waist. He was the one who sniveled about how Maryland doesn't execute "children", so Malvo would be safe here. Now its the same with the elder sniper. This is why Ashcroft had them moved to Virginia in the first place.
The snipers killed more people in Montgomery than anywhere else.
Do your job, Gansler.

He's also assuming the conviction/sentence in Va. won't be reversed/modified on appeal. Looks like he doesn't want the expense of a capital prosecution.

Prosecutor Douglas Gansler said late Thursday that "underlying the entire decision was the fact that Muhammad has received a death sentence in Virginia." SFW?! Dig him up and violate his corpse!
[On a saner note, the Virgina verdict might get overturned.]

Make that a graveyard convenience store clerk in DC wearing a "Mohammed Is Da Bomb" tee-shirt, for good measure.

Like your style and I think he would find punishment swift.
I just think a person should answer for all their crimes. I know it is redundant. Spending repeat money but still there are victim's in another state and deserve the same justice as those in Virginia.

Sounds like Maryland needs to change some laws regarding the death penalty and Gansler should be handling divorce cases.

there are victim's in another stateAnd I agree that they deserve the closure that the American legal system's pronouncement that John Muhammad is the foul murderer of their loved ones would bring.
To: Former Military Chick
That's ridiculous logic on the part of this prosecuction. They should act without regard to what's been done in another state. That case may fall apart on appeal, and then what happens? Suppose VA has a moratorium on executions or abolishes it altogether?
I agree: his victims in Maryland are no less worthy of the fullness of justice than those in Virginia.

The law also requires proof that two or more people were killed in a single incident. Weird law. Kill one get life, kill two, scare the DA into thinking he might lose.
Sounds like this guy Gansler is not sure he can get the murder conviction so he's going for the lesser charge. It's Maryland's laws. Oh well. At least they can't set him free with the Va convictions in place. ugh..
To: Former Military Chick
Who knows, perhaps a Montgomery County jury will decide he's not guilty.

... still there are victim's in another state and deserve the same justice as those in Virginia. The justice the victims deserve is a dead murderer. This show trial we are putting on is career advancemen for the state's lawyers, not justice.

The prosecutor's refusal to pursue death will only bolster the leftist argument that murderers of blacks do not receive death penalties. In liberal-dominated (democrat) areas of Maryland, murderers do not face execution. In more reasonable (i.e. Republican) areas of Maryland, murderers routinely face the ultimate punishment.
It is a sad state when liberals can use their own incompetence as justification to eliminate reasonable punishment. But, then again, democrats realize that every murderer who is executed is one fewer eventual democrat voter.

Prosecutors will not seek the death penalty against convicted Washington-area sniper John Allen Muhammad when he goes on trial in May, the Montgomery County state's attorney said Thursday. Why waste money on the trial. Just let the Old Dominion execute him. Spend the money on the younger one, and then Maryland can execute him.
