The Olympic Committees, the US included, is a group of bureaucrats who have found a way to make a nice living.
The Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs has named buildings after bureaucrats, not athletes.
It isn't already?
This is true...my next door neighbours daughter Amanda Ammar represented her country at Turin in the cross country ski events.
She was only allowed to spend 3 hours with her parents during the whole ten days or so..and when they went for a coffee she had to drink a sponsored type. They also had to eat in a McDonalds!
You mean to tell me that they already had the Winter Olympics? Why didn't somebody tell me they were on?
What's interesting about this is that the other competitors have a lot of say in how a dispute like this ends up being resolved. The IOC finally gave Jim Thorpe's heirs the gold medals he won at the 1912 Olympics (they had been stripped from him because he technically wasn't an amateur athlete). They didn't have to go back and create a new set of medals because the gold medals were sitting in a vault somewhere. In all of the events he won, the second-place finishers refused to accept the gold medals after he had them taken away from him.
IOC and NCAA are cut from the same shabby cloth. A mass exodus from both is needed.
Prostitutes in expensive dresses, but prostitutes nevertheless.
Their taping over of little Dell logos on laptops at the Olympics venues tells you all you need to know about the Olympic 'movement.'
Woke up bright and early here in Chicago to watch 6 nations and see the Boys in Green take Taffy to the woodshed last Sunday. I was impressed how much energy and enthusiasm the fans had... along with the lack of commercials and time outs to run commercials throughout the game. It's nice to see two 40 minute halves played in 82 minutes and the two extra minutes were for injury time.
If I were the Silver winner, I certainly wouldn't want to get the Gold this way. It would be a lie.
Well, in a way I hope the Swedes lose their gold because I'm still mad they beat Finland (my favorite team), but in a way I hope they get to keep it because that is a pretty stupid rule and it would suck to lose a medal on the basis of it.
