Excellent Christian artist dies while playing "We Shall Behold Him".
music ping....although a sad one (only 44?)
IIRC, he had some health challenges in his 30s that were the topic of much prayer at that time.
Also, didn't he play for the Cathedrals?
I'm so sorry. He was a great pianist and entertainer.
Earlier in his career Burger played for the Celestials and the Southern gospel quartet The Kingsmen.
Dear ZinGirl,
Thanks for the ping!
Classical Music Ping List ping!
If you want on or off this list, let me know via FR e-mail. Thanks!

If it was his time to go, he left suddenly while playing the most beautiful music. RIP, and if it had to be, that was a death to be envied.
No, Roger Bennett was the Cathedrals pianist.
Both are/were very talented.
Please remember Roger, he is still having problems with cancer.
Very true words. His age and the suddenness will be hardest on those he left behind.
Prayers for his wife and children.
Thanks for the correction and update for my less than stellar memory.
For the poster that said Anthony went out of this world playing the best of music, I would ditto that and recommend you cut/paste the Mark Lowry link in post #2 to read Mark's similar comment.
As to the particular song - We Shall Behold Him - I have my brain-based recorder playing the version from the Cathedrals right now.
Well, at least he passed while doing the Lord's work. He is probably playing piano up in Heaven right now.
And the DUh did rejoice over the death of another "Fundie".
He was one great piano player. Kind of a rewarding way to go.
Words and Music: Dottie Rambo
1 Thessalonians 4:16-17: For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And thus we shall always be with the Lord.
The sky shall unfold, preparing His entrance;
The stars shall applaud Him with thunders of praise.
The sweet light in His eyes shall enhance those a waiting,
And we shall behold Him then face to face.
And we shall behold Him, we shall behold Him
Face to face in all of His glory;
And we shall behold Him, Yes, we shall behold Him
Face to face, our Savior and Lord.
The angels shall sound the shout of His coming,
The sleeping shall rise from their slumbering place.
And those who remain shall be changed in a moment,
And we shall behold Him then face to face.
And we shall behold Him, we shall behold Him
Face to face in all of His glory;
And we shall behold Him, Yes, we shall behold Him
Face to face, our Savior and Lord.
We shall behold Him, our Savior and Lord.
Awesome piano player. A very sweet man as well. We'll miss you Anthony.
But I hope that their hope is that he is risen in Christ and transformed to be like Him.. and that they are secure in the knowldege that they WILL SEE HIM again.. ...and that the love of the Holy Spirit for them sustains them.
Oh, man. He played at our church a couple of years ago. He'll be missed. My heart goes out to his family and friends.
May he rest in peace.
The best of the best. He won the best pianist award so much that they removed him from contention and named the award after him.
Pianist Anthony Burger of Cleveland died Wednesday night after suffering an apparent heart attack. He was 44. Anthony was in the Caribbean aboard a Bill Gaither Homecoming cruise this week and it was during one of Wednesday's performances when he suffered the heart attack. A family spokesman said Burger was doing what he loved best, playing the piano, just before collapsing.
