Peter King: Dubai Ports Company in 'Al Qaeda Heartland'
Newsmax ^ | onday, Feb. 20, 2006 | Newsmax

House Homeland Security Committee chairman Peter King racheted up the rhetoric Monday morning on the Bush administration's decision to permit Dubai Ports World to control six major U.S. ports, saying the company is based in "the heartland of al Qaeda."

"By having a company right out of the heartland of al Qaeda managing those ports without being properly cleared or investigated, to me is madness," Rep. King told ABC News.

King cited "a number of reports about the port of Dubai itself, about weapons going through that port, to Iran, about corruption, and again about an al Qaeda presence. And I know there was no real investigation done on this matter."

King said he intends to ask President Bush to "freeze the contract [on the ports takeover], put it on hold, take no action till a full and complete investigation is done."

The Dubai company's ports takeover was approved last month by the Committee on Foreign Investment, headed by Treasury Secretary John Snow.

Over the weekend, both Homeland Security czar Michael Chertoff and Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice insisted that the Dubai ports deal had been thoroughly reviewed posed no threat to national security.

During an appearance on ABC's "This Week," however, Chertoff said he couldn't discuss details of the review because they were classified.

Rep. King said approval of the controversial deal was granted because "bureaucrats" had applied pre-9/11 standards.

"This is a classic situation, I think, of bureaucrats who just missed the boat here," he explained. "This went through. They were applying business as usual [rules] and they forgot it was post-9/11."

Unless President Bush intervenes, the Dubai ports takeover is set to commence on March 1.

Do we not have US port managing companies?

None in the same league as DP World, P&O, PSA International or Hutchison Whampoa.

Why should I have to research this?

Because you want to know the truth, and not rely upon sombody's talking points.

Nope, it's the "Sellout Express!"

"All aboard, the Sellout Express is now departing for Amnesty, Dhimmitude and Mexifornia.

"Dhimmitude, the next stop is Dhimmitude..."

Rush mentioned Halliburton to do the job.

Call your U.S. Senators and congresscritters, and tell them to forget politics (especially if they are Dems) and get Halliburton.

The Administration is taking a lot of heat on this debacle, and rightly so. Congress isn't going to gloss over this one.

Not only is it Harriet Miers redux, it has all the potential for doing real, irreparable damage to this country and the Republican party that the Miers fiasco had until we conservatives stopped it.

Here is what the Port story is about. A DNC press release was sent out by Chucky Schumer for the Democrat Senate Election Committee. It is full of rumor, innuendo and guilt by association. A bunch of junk journalists picked up the story and without checking a SINGLE fact printed the story. A bunch of meat head grandstanding Republicans Congress Critters on Kneepads, read the story and freaked out WITHOUT bothering to find out a single fact.

The Security Agencies, who did all the investigation and background checks were blown off or sneered at by the Democrats, their junk journalists propagandists and Republican Congress critter Media whores. Meanwhile the FACTS of the case are being ignored in order for everyone to gleefully parrot a DEMOCRAT Press release.

HERE is the logical diagram on this story. A company based in UAE is taking over port operations. UAE is an Arab Country. Arabs committed 9-11. Bush is turning Port Security over to the Terrorists! Not ONE fact or logically valid assumption is presented in any of these stories. The fact that the Port Operation company has NO security functions is either willfully or inadvertently left OUT of the story. Instead it is all basically a racist, guilty by accusation and rumor smear job. The people who ACTUALLY know the facts like DHS etc are being laughed at or ignored so supposed "Conservatives" can gleefully push Democrat Election Campaign propaganda.

Simply amazing how willfully ignorant some "Conservatives" are about how the Junk Journalists lie to them. Just like Flush the Koran, Rather Gate, Fitzmus, Downing Street Memo and dozens and dozens of other LIES manufactured by the DNC and fed to the Failed Media, THIS story is a LIE.

"Not saying yes or no, but not kneejerking either."

Will not matter... some here will attack you as if you were kennedy himself. Emotion rules this debate, and facts will not matter. This deal is dead due to perception, not actual reality. It's over. The only thing left is to see how our government finds a legal way to cancel the deal. It is not as easy as tearing up a piece of paper. It may require legislation to do so.

Chairmanship of the House Homeland Security committee isn't "irrelevance". His vote is a little more important than, say, yours.

King was just on with Hannity. I agree with him on this one. I let the WH and the VP know about it too. I won't give Chuckie the satisfaction that I agree with him though... LOL.
