Carlie Brucia's Killer Pleads for His Life Tuesday, February 14, 2006 SARASOTA, Fla. A weeping Joseph Smith apologized Tuesday for the abduction, rape and murder of 11-year-old Carlie Brucia two years ago, telling a judge he had taken large amounts of cocaine and heroin that day in hopes of killing himself. Carlie's February 2004 abduction drew worldwide attention because it was caught on a car wash surveillance tape. Smith, 39, was convicted in November. Friends and even Smith's brother said they recognized him as the burly mechanic grabbing the young girl's wrist as she walked home from a friend's house. Jurors recommended by a 10-2 vote that he be executed.

Long, painful death for this monster.
I wonder if little Carlie begged and pleaded for her life...the judge should give him the same mercy that animal showed her.
Ping.
Did you see him on tv. It was disgusting. Boohoo, I want to turn my life around. Boohoo, I want the chance to improve. Boohoo, I didn't know what I was doing. BULL! He knew exactly what he was doing and did NOT give Carly a second chance at life. He should fry - long and slow.
Seconded.
I just wish they would have killed him right on the spot when he started crying.
Agreeed. They're all very boo-hoo when it's time to pay the piper.
Wish granted ... give him his dirt nap
but drugs are a victimless crime...
Given the likely irrefutble evidence including not only the video tape of the abduction but likely his DNA from the rape, there should be no reason to drag out his appeals for two decades. A quick appeal and strap him down to the gurney. We can hope lethal injection is as painful as the liberals maintain.
If he was truly remorseful, he'd kill himself.
The DEA agent who shot his partner to death tried the same argument vis-a-vis his alcoholism. Didn't work for him either.
I saw it. He was a sniveling puke. The judge should send him to his maker.
What else is there to say except:
Die die die die die die just freakin' die you bastard.
Boo-friggin'-hoo. Die, loser!
reality is...more like long painful appeals process for the victim's family and the taxpayers
It makes everyone afraid, taking away a trusting part of our nature.
Death is the only fitting punishment for this crime.
When does the judge hand down the sentence?
