It's just a matter of MORE money for education....and condoms dispensers in the hall....and more "diversity training"...more liberal indoctination...And continued tenure for teachers no smarter than their idiotic students.
The monopoly of public education without competition from private schooling and vouchers is the death of this country.
To: george76
Why do we continue to classify students according to some age group? It's got the be the dopiest way of doing things. Each child is an INDIVIDUAL and thus has different learning needs.
For instance, if that "freshman" can't read a book, they've got bigger problems than just being held back a year.

Nearly one in four Seattle Public Schools sophomores is missing required credits and has been reclassified as a freshman, potentially delaying graduation. Why only "potentially?"

That isn't very many kids in the school system. Does Seattle have that much of a dearth of youth?

McVickers: Boys, I have to agree. Your diffulty in math, as well as every other subject, indicates you do not belong in the ninth grade...[snip]...I'll have you go down one grade.
Butthead: Uh, so what grade what that put us in?
To: george76
The move, effective this semester, was part of a package of changes the district announced in October to help better prepare high school students to pass the Washington Assessment of Student Learning and graduate.
The WASL is so stupid and really starting to get on my nerves. They have elementary kids stressed out months before they actually administer the test. Does anyone know if a parent can opt out of this test in the lower grade levels?
To: george76
There are only 3,300 pupils in the 10th grade in Seattle? I thought Seattle was a larger city than that.
