Part of it is simple: girls will watch movies or read books with predominantly male characters, but boys won't watch movies or read books with predominantly female characters. It's a pretty broad generalization (no pun intended), but a true one.

That movie was attrocious, yet tons of women went ga ga over it... I don't know how the womens movement turned promiscuity, skankiness, self destructive behavior and general violence into "empowerment"... but as I said, if that's empowerment thank God I'm a guy.

Part of the problem is that I've noticed, while watching some recent children's cartoons, is that the creators and writers seem to think that in order to portray a strong female lead character, they need to portray that male characters that travel along with them as idiots and incompetent, in some case with shoe-size level IQs. And then there are the gay and or feminine aspects they give to the male characters if they aren't morons. Is it any wonder that little boys aren't interested in such things? Want to life little girls up and have something popular? Don't put down the boys to build up the girls. See the movie The Incredibles for a good example of how to honestly deal with the issue.

BTW, I can name tons of females who have played male characters in g-rated productions. I can't think of any males who have done the opposite. If this is about equal rights for women actresses, they are barking up the wrong tree as usual.

Speed and Trixie are

my archtypes for the
perfect man, perfect woman.
[sighs] Speed and Trixie . . .
