Wonder if they will apply the same formula to the homosexual characters, Christians, etc....You know, by accurate ratios. 2-3% homosexuals on TV and movies, 90% Chrisitans....
No, that would be silly, huh?

"We're showing kids a world that's very scantly populated with women and female characters," said actress Geena Davis, founder of See Jane, a program of the advocacy group Dads & Daughters that encourages balanced gender representation in entertainment for children. Or for crying out freaking loud. This is a joke, right? Right?

Shut up, for goodness sake, leave the Disney mobies out of it. There are many more important things to whine about!!!
To: ibheath
Its because Hollywood thinks women are only good for cleavage shots. G-rated formats leave them scratching their heads: "no breasts? then replace her with a male lead"

"It wasn't until the study that I went back and realized there's only one toy that's a female character, and it's Bo-Peep. She's standing at the window going, 'Oh, Woody, don't hurt yourself,'" Kelly said. "Not that I want 'Toy Story' to be changed. I don't think there should be any sort of gender formula. But there are other movies to be made with powerful messages featuring female characters." The fact that Bo Peep was even in the movie is suspect due to the fact that this was a boy's room and toys. I have a daughter and she doesn't have any cowboy or space man toys. Maybe I should force her to play with her brothers toys and vice verse.
There may have been a Mrs. Potato head in the movie too but this persons argument would really be about the state of toys in America and a boys bedroom.

Yes, we definitely need more "quality films" with women in positive role models, such as "Thelma & Louise".

It's important for what kids watch that as far as possible, they see the real world reflectedThe "real world" has never had a female U.S. president, and terrorists are almost always Muslims.

I saw "Finding Nemo" on an airplane flight and was shocked...how did a movie that centered on the theme of a father's love for his son get made? And by Disney??
If they think the G-rated movies are bad, what about the Super Bowl? Not a single female player on either team.

How about victorian hits such as HMS Pinafore (...and his sisters and his cousins and his aunts, all female)
To: ibheath
a program of the advocacy group Dads & Daughters that encourages balanced gender representation in entertainment for children I guess just advocating for more family films would be a little too sane for her.
