Thanks for posting the truth. So many people look at Reagan through rose colored glasses. Fifteen years from now those same people will be trashing the then current Republican leader while praising George W. Bush.
No problem. Always good to keep you in the loop...are you back in the Sandlot?
mark to read later
I paid the 16% interest too - until I refinanced later in his term - and at the same time incomes grew way beyond inflation. It is silly to think that Reagan's policies only effected the years he was in office. In spite of Bush Senior's shift to more government the train Reagan started gave a lot of people a chance to buy a home - a chance my children won't have if government continues to grow in double digits.
Where has Peter been taxed to pay Paul?
the new Medicare drug plan for one - he has yet to veto any bill and the pork is running rampant.
Taxes have been cut what 3 times in the last 5 years?
These tax cuts are so small that they don't really matter other than I'm glad they didn't' go up. But if spending goes up we will get taxed via inflation in the long run anyway -- it is spending that counts the most.
The DOW was in the 800 range vs 10,800
dow chart
Yahoos chart of the DOW tells the real story - I don't expect it to do well with government spending out of control and no one is talking about cutting government (real inflation corrected government spending went down over Reagan's term despite the misinformation in the press.) ... I would never have expected the republican party to have gone AWOL on fiscal responsibility just a couple of decades later.
The nanny state socialism went wild during Reagan's term. KISS, mandatory seat belt laws using black mail via highway funding, the smoking nazis rose up with their crap.......
uh .. Reagan didn't have majorities in both houses if you might remember - yet he cut spending AND won the cold war - which was the result of not listening to the experts in the state department.
My point isn't that we shouldn't have elected Bush - it is he is disappointing. I look at the last 3 elections and find it sad that everyone that ran from both parties were ALL just pols that want to increase government.
We have better men - real men - in the USA than the bunch in DC. The system isn't picking the best we have.
Good stuff. Thanks so much for the report.
I agree. That is why I try not to trash any one, but sometimes.....
you have freepmail
This was your original statement. Now you are moving the line.
I paid the 16% interest too - until I refinanced later in his term
I never said the rates did not eventually drop. Trickle down economics take time to trickle.

When did the taxes go up? Did I miss it?

Unbelievable!!! So, it doesn't matter what the President does you are in the bash Bush all the time choir.

Yahoos chart of the DOW tells the real story -
Ummmm, your chart is just exactly what I said. What's your point?
no one is talking about cutting government
Oh, I beg to differ! President Bush talks about cutting government all the time! He wanted to cut duplicate programs, he wanted to stop growth of budget items - not cut spending, just stop the increase of spending, he wanted to stop funding programs that do not have a any record of working etc. etc.
What does he hear? Squeals from the stuffed pigs in CONgress! Remember, he wants to starve our children, set women's rights back to the dark ages, blah blah blah.....
Reagan didn't have majorities in both houses
Elizabeth Dole was the Secty. of Transportation and orchestrated the seat belt laws. What does that have to do with CONgress?
President Bush doesn't really have a majority in either house either. Just because there is an R after a name, does not make them a Republican. Spectre, McLame, Collins, Snow job, Chaffee, Isakson, Smith, Coleman have their own "moderate" club along with 45 members of the House.
My point isn't that we shouldn't have elected Bush -
There in is your entire point. YOU do not like the President. Sorry.
I want people who represent my VALUES, my MORALS.
I want HONOR in the White House, and we have it with George W. Bush.
Amen! In our wounded warriors words from Saturday...
God bless the Honorable, President George W. Bush!
Good Job!
Yep. Just can't get enough of it. LOL
I'm trying to get myself sent on a rotation to Kuwait or even a short one to Balad...
Thank you, please do.
What are you...nuts? ;-)
Seriously, good luck and keep me posted.
Thank you for doing the dirty work.
Well, I AM kinda crazy! Seriously, though, I need a combat deployment to get the veterans' hiring preference (because going to Spain for 120 days just didn't count!)
You're no fun at all.
If no one trashes me I don't think I am reaching anyone.
Early in my radio career there were a ton of angry phone calls at the radio station about my show. The negative calls outnumbered the positive about 5 to 1. I was afraid the boss was going to fire me. He gave me a raise.. He said it was real proof that people were listening. He said when nobody calls is when you'll get fired.
I learned there are always a lot more negative calls than positive. The people who like what is said rarely call. I lived in constant fear that people would start to like me. My fellow workers used to reassure me. They said there was absolutely no danger of that. ;-)
Sadly you didn't learn much history - and your children may be condemned to repeat it. Bad economics bring war and kill hopes. You need to visit some regular families in the third world - then tell me economics makes no difference. England once ruled the world - ended up getting bailed out by the IMF. Our economy is getting ruined by socialist policies and we will end up headed in the same direction as Europe.
I didn't vote for Kerry - what you don't get, is politically Bush is to the left of JFK - just because Bush is better than Kerry isn't a reason to embrace his socialist politics.
I want HONOR in the White House, and we have it with George W. Bush
I just wish Bush would honor the white house by being fiscally responsible.
I learned there are always a lot more negative calls than positive.
That is what my Senator's office told me. ;*)
