As Europe now faces an ounce of the heat that us here in the states have been facing day in and day out since 9-11....keep these images in mind.

Protesters march toward Denmark's Foreign Ministry during a peace protest in Copenhagen, Denmark, Saturday March 19, 2005. About 5,000 protestors marched Saturday on the 2nd anniversary of the onset of the US-led invasion of Iraq. (AP Photo/John McConnico)

Oh but we have been sweetie...we have been.

Holding torches, some 2,000 people form the sign of peace during an antiwar and anti-violence rally in the Heroes Square in central Budapest, Hungary, on Sunday evening, March 20, 2005. The rally was organized by the Humanist Movement of Hungary to mark the second anniversary of the US-led invasion of Iraq. Apart from the odd hammer & sickle, those photos could've been taken in the U.S. So what's your point?

What's so different about Europe? Any of these photos could be from San Francisco. In fact, I thought I spotted "Old Bug Eyes" (Nancy Pelosi) in one of them.

It's easy to criticize from the outside. Won't be too long now until the anger directed at Bush turns to dismay as the European elite turn to their local muslim terrorist and exclaim, "Please don't kill me -- I'm on YOU'RE side!" Hello, Sharia.

My point is so many in the European society feel immune to the threat of Islamic terror and were the first to take the streets against the U.S.. They seem to have a bit of a problem on their hands now and all of a sudden I am reading e-mails from the region about how isolated they feel and scared....WHAT HAS PRESIDENT BUSH BEEN TRYING TO TELL YOU IN THE EASIEST TERMS?

This is not going to go away...it's only going to get worse...Europeans NEED to realize this and NOW.

You are right...these pictures could be taken from a protest here in the U.S...but we know the war here in the U.S....our own citizens who are against the war in Iraq and what it takes to win the war on terror are people that we here on FR battle every day.

Europe has been asleep...thinking that nothing is wrong with them. The point of the pictures is to express how easy it is to take it to America and that we are fighting an unjust war against the poor muslims of the world.

Wrong.

The Muslims as clearly seen in recent years and as recently as this week...bring it to you and us.

And I am simply pointing out that you seem concerned about Europeans who do not care, when there is a (what, maybe 30%?) chance that your next door neighbor doesn't care, either.

Europe has a big mouth ever since the big bad Bear of Communist Russia was chased from their door. You'll see the Euro trash get all buddy buddy with big brother America as they slowly realize that Iran is able to blow their sorry ass to kingdom come . then it will be , "please . USA , come save us "! None of those countries hasmuch of a potent military and they will do as they always did . They will party away and bad mouth us until trouble is at the door , then it's good old USA to the rescue again ..It's 1938 again folks..

I think your post is a useful reminder. I also find interesting that your e-mails suggest that your European correspondents are scared. They should be, but the proper reaction would not have been fright but anger.

I agree. We need to withdraw our troops. Then, maybe they will follow Rumsfeld's advice and update their militaries. That will ease unemployment some.

It seems to me that Americans are the only people in this world who know how to correctly distrubute our anger on the world stage. Europe has been Clintonized to the point of no return in many ways.

What GOOD has been associated with Islam?
Really- the inaction of 'good' Muslims isn't something positive, it's just the absence of negative.
What GOOD has Islam done on the world stage? What POSITIVE things can anyone point to? They do not build- they destroy.
They are never happy about ANYTHING.
What IS the positive, life-affirming face of Islam?

True and point taken...but how much you wanna bet Team America: World Police is gonna have to calm everybody down over in Europe with a big dose of appeasement for some Muslim group over there and here because Europe is afraid to fight their own battles?

The State Department's message yesterday was a good sign of the knee-pad reaction to shortly follow...and this is in reaction to a freaking CARTOON.

Islam did play an important part in human civilization. But was that a positive or a negative role? How many human lives were sacrificed at the altar of Allah?

Muhammad exterminated the Jews of Arabia who called that land home for 2000 years. They had alliances with their Arab compatriots and intermarried with them.

They were completely Arabianized. There was no religious conflict in Arabia. Muhammad not only introduced religious intolerance, he undertook the ethnic cleansing of Arabia and instigated a " divinely ordained" hatred between his followers and the Jews that is taking its toll even up to this day. His command to kill the idolaters destroyed more human lives in 1400 years than Hitler succeeded to destroy in 13 years.

Only in India the death toll was close to 90 million. Yes Islam had a great impact on the minds of its followers. But we paid and keep paying with our lives for that impact. The suffering and backwardness of Muslims and the present wave of terrorism are the result of that impact.

I can't find the good Islam ever did, historically, either.
I was more interested in the 'good' Islam does NOW. Where are teh charitable societies? The good works? There are CHristian groups galore, helping ANYONE who needs it.
Where is the GOOD Islam in today's news?
You'd think, if only to actively counter the 'bad' face being put on their 'religion', that local groups here and there would be getting on the news with wonderful, positive,'we're just like you' events.
Where are they?

Yes, doesn't Europe have such a fine record when it comes to peace and human rights?

(Never mind the history of the 150 years or so.)
