Tehran, 3 Feb. (AKI) - Judicial authorities in the central Iranian city of Isfahan have announced that women state employees who fail to wear the Islamic hijab or head scarf, face lashing as punishment. Isfahan's director general for Judicial Authority, Mohammad Ansari, apparently wants to apply to the letter an article in Iran's penal code stipulating 74 lashes for women who do not dress according to Islamic law including wearing the chador, the black veil that covers women from head to toe.Since Mahmoud Ahmadinejad's election as Iranian president in June last year, pressure has increased on people to respect Islamic laws and morals. Many clothing shops have been subject to severe controls by the police, while the security staff at public buildings prevent women, who are not deemed to be dressed properly, from entering.
During the eight-year rule of Ahmadinejad's predecessor Mohammad Khatami, Islamic dress codes were not strictly enforced.

Islam proves once again what an obscene, and revolting religion it is. Islam should be banned in the US becuase it is incompatible with our values. Freedom of religion should not include a religion that has absolutely no tolerance for anyone other than its own demented practitioners.
The Democrats and the Left have adopted the mantra that "The enemy of my enemy is my friend."
To the liberals, Judeo-Christianity is what they really fear, loathe, and hate.

I think it one day will be "banned" in the US, at least as far as Naziism is banned, i.e. there will be such a majority revulsion with islam that it will be rarely expressed in public. America isn't going to lose this war and appeasement is not a future.
I understand that the powers that are have the guns, but for the life of me I fail to understand why folks in places like Cuba, Iran, Communist China, even Egypt don't rise up as one and remove the thugs that run their countries.
Hell a bunch of goobers using pen knives to hijack our jets.
Reinforces why banning all religious headdress in all public places all over the Free world would have such a powerful effect.

Only 74 lashes??? I see great progress in the religion of peace. A more appropriate punishment would have been a beheading.
Maybe muslim women are the key to winning the WOT. We just need to convince all muslim women to take out their husbands and they can then keep all of the oil revenue.
Since I have an advanced case of CRS, I don't remember which FReeper it was,but she/he described the "moderate Muslim" as one who did not believe in beheadings, but rather cutting off fingers!
