State officials need to quit bellyaching about Mississippi getting more flood relief than Louisiana and about President Bush rejecting a $30 billion homeowner-bailout plan. Their time would be better spent laying the groundwork for spending the $6.2 billion in hurricane relief we have already received.

With this state’s checkered political background, can you blame anyone for doubting our ability to handle billions of dollars in federal funds?

This isn't a game to me or to thousands of families in Louisiana or the gulf coast. You might think it's a fun little pastime for you and your imature friends, but it isn't. Have your fun.
