Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has ordered resumption of direct flights to the US after a 26-year break.

Nourollah Rezaei-Niaraki, head of the Civil Aviation Organization, said the US aviation organisations had been informed of the development.

Iran and the US broke off their diplomatic relations after a 444-day occupation of the American embassy in Tehran in 1979 by radical Iranian students.

Clever, he's co-opting the reformists' positions. It's what many speculated Rafsanjani would do if elected. Stalin would do a similar political manuever: first he would declare a certain political idea counter-revolutionary, kill all those who espoused it, then declare that he had thought up the political idea in question and enact it. And then he would kill everyone who didn't agree with his new idea.

Exactly. I worry not only about the passengers but also about them using the "passenger" planes as a delivery system for chemical/biological/nuclear weapons. The have suicide pilots as well as suicide bombers, etc.
