If 'we' allow people to invest this money our economy should soar with all the money that would finally be socked away (American's have a woeful savings rate) and interest rates would benefit, too...
If you think Casey wouldn't fall into the raise taxes to balance SS fold, you are sadly mistaken. Dims -- none -- have never met a tax increase they didn't love, they think all of our money belongs to them and we should keep enough to just get by... the dim party today is a lot more like Jimmy Carter in thinking and they are all on such a short leash that they will not dare go against Dingy Harry, Kerry, Kennedy, etc... so, no matter how ticked off I get at any of our GOP guys, the worst one is better than 99.9% of any Dim.
Some Dems? It wouldn't surprise me if he appointed a majority of Dems. Decisions with him all come down to the same considerations: a. would he get a lot of publicity and b. would it be a spit in the face of those who profile as part of the Bush base.
That would be the same Arlen Specter who puts his finger to the wind and votes with us when it doesn't matter. He's also the same Arlen Specter that fired a warning shot accross the President's bow the day after he was elected. It's the same Arlen Specter that will turn on you like a pit-viper in a heart beat if it serves his purpose. It's the same Arlen Specter who now chairs the Judiciary Committee instead of rock solid conservative John Kyl (who was next in line).
Tell that to all his clerks -- not one had anything bad to say about him and many openly admitted they were libs... said they never really knew his personal views on any of the cases that came before him.

Got to hand it to the Diane Feinstein, she at least had the intellectual honesty to say that Roe was the line in the sand these days.
I don't kid myself about what Casey is or isn't. But I'm not going to tolerate Dim-lite from the Republicans anymore. I'm just not going to reward their treachery with my vote, time, or money. When they start acting like principled conservatives, then maybe....but until then....not a chance.
This is exactly the kind of thinking that has led us away from the principles embedded by the Founders in our written Constitution.
If the Constitution is the people's document, and if it--as it has been considered to be--is the protector of the people's liberty and rights, If the 9 unelected men, serving life terms on the Supreme Court, are our protection, then we do not live under the "rule of law," we live under "the rule of 9 men."
The "living constitution" school has advocated this kind of nonsense for recent decades, reflecting an idea one university professor proudly boasted was that "what we have is a 'sitting constitution.'" In other words, we have nine men who can, unconstitutionally, change the written constitution at will, instead of interpreting it in the sense that it was adopted. We must keep in mind that the Founders wrote into Article V of the Constitution itself the only legitimate means by which it could be changed, and that did not include a decision by any judge at any time.
As Orrin Hatch observed today, the Constitution's own process for amendment (change), as prescribed in Article V, involves "We, the People," through our elected representatives--not the judiciary.
Hopefully, some Republican Senator will correct Senator Reed's understanding of what the Court is supposed to be and, at the same time, educate some young people as to the dangers of the Radical Left's agenda for America.
We only need to look at what happened in Colorado -- Coors lost and the dem that beat him is already one of the good ole boys on the Blue side of the aisle.

Toomey lost by less than a percent in swing vote. He would have handily beaten Hoeffel in the general election. Bush and Santorum succumbed to party protocol....placing it above principle. I won't reward that with my vote.
Are you talking about the new report that says the Army is overloaded and can't hold up much longer (at this current pace)???
