I hear Alito crashed his car into a canal and left a girl inside to drown while he covered his behind to maintain his politcal viability.
Doesn't he have a dog named Splash?
I wouldn't be too surprised if they came up with some lame accussation that needed a "complete investigation" or soemthing along those lines.
Great article from Pruden, as always. His bottom line is that the dems think they're "mainstream" and anyone to the right of them is "out of the mainstream," but you can't be the "mainstream" when you're in the minority. Funny the dems haven't figured that out.
I heard he had a "waitress sandwich" with some Senator somewhere in D.C.
I hope the judge takes his spot on the bench before the President's State of the Union.
It'll be awesome to see his face on the front row with the other justices.
That'll be the worst medicine in the world for the lefties.
And there's an article in a tabloid that says he fathered a love child.
A clue as to what they are planning might be drawn by Leahy's hot attack today that Alito would OK secret wire tapping and that Congress had never been appraised of such when they voted to approve armed conflict in Afghanistan.
This was a laughable accusation coming from Leaky Leahy who is one of the reasons the Administration has to move in secret because Leahy blabs war plans to the press.
Never mind that I heard nothing in the hearings before the committee that indicated that Alito was in favor of this. The Dems seem to be switching their plan of attack, probably in the face of the American public's obvious distaste for further discussion of the abortion issue -- particularly the youth who oppose Roe overwhelmingly. (Their attacks are no longer working!)
Well, then. I guess he's out of public life for good.
Who knows what the Dems have in store. I wouldn't be surprised to see them draw the vote out in the full senate. Nevertheless, Alito is going to make it.
I must say I'm disappointed, but not surprised, at the Dems. I hope the Republicans keep these hearings in mind next time a Democrat president nominates someone (hopefully not for a long time to come). At least the Dems are finally out in the open. They really care little for the rule of law and prefer judges who act like legislators. Again, not surprising at all.
Chris Dodd?
Chris Dodd?
Yes.
Yes.
Yes, I remember hearing that too! Not to much press on it though, wonder why?
The best revenge is when GOP Senators next time ding an otherwise qualified liberal nominee on nothing more than politics ; )
Wash your mouth out with soap. The best revenge is when the Democrats don't get to nominate a nominee in the first place.I'm not happy counting chickens until the Senate vote is a done deal. Until then the possibility of a filibuster remains . . . tempered by the threat that Bush might withdraw Alito and name Janice Rodgers Brown. If there is not gonna be a vote, might as well not have a vote over a black conservative nominee . . .
Well, I didn't say HOW SOON a liberal nominee might come before the Committee - it could be (God willing) HUNDREDS or THOUSANDS of years from now - then those good, patriotic Republicans will have this Congressional Record and precedent to ding said judge at that time ; )
