They know how we think. The sites with no children are the ones to watch. They figure we'll consider the sites being "protected" by children are major sites and that any other site isn't worth taking out, and in the process, they'll cause a stalemate with the help of the American left protesting any military action against little kids. It'll be a stall tactic playing on the sympathies of anti-American leftists around the world. Leaders in Iran are psychos, but they ain't stupid.

If wanted, any of a variety of energetic boosters could be added nowadays to help with terminal velocity, and precision guidance could obviate the necessity for rotating the weapon and sacrificing velocity.
If that doesn't get it done, there are any number of weapons of artillery-shell size, starting with the old W-33 8"(203mm) shell (some of which may still be around) that could be mounted instead, with yields from 5-40 kt. That ought to do it.

If a single weapon is not likely to penetrate deeply enough to allow the "earthquake" technique to work properly, then there's a possible one-two technique: one weapon to loosen the material to be penetrated, and another following at a split-second interval, to achieve the deep penetration with the larger weapon that will finish the job.

People haven't generally twigged yet to the fact that our President is trying to reintroduce the spirit of freedom and people's rule to a region that lost both to bullyboy god-kings like Saddam 6,000 years ago. Those people have lived in subjection and abasement for that long, and what George W. Bush is doing is absolutely radically visionary and, if he succeeds, a political earthquake that will provoke the wrath of Lucifer himself. Do you see any signs of anyone's getting that yet?
We did exactly that in 1967, after we swore to Israel that if they gave up land for peace, we would defend them from attack by any arab nation that used the surrendered land as a stagimg area for an an attack.
When Israel called upon us to honor that agreement, we somehow could not find that document. Israel will soon lose two thirds of their people in an all out war, I wish I could be sure where we, as a Nation, will stand when this comes about.

Designed by its German builder to withstand an atomic strike on the scale of Hiroshima, the bunker survived the war of 2003 intact.
Propelling a warhead of that size at those speeds poses serious technological challenges and Darpa estimates it will take more than 20 years to develop.
Over the next seven years, meanwhile, the US air force and Darpa will develop a cheaper "global reach" weapons system relying on expendable rocket boosters, known as small launch vehicles (SLV) that would take a warhead into space and drop it over its target.
In US defence jargon, the warhead is known as a Com mon Aero Vehicle (Cav), an unpowered bomb which would be guided on to its target as it plummeted to earth at high and accelerating velocity.
The Cav could carry 1,000 lbs of explosives but at those speeds explosives may not be necessary. A simple titanium rod would be able to penetrate 70 feet of solid rock and the shock wave would have enormous destructive force. It could be used against deeply buried bunkers, the sort of target the air force is looking for new ways to attack.
Jane's Defence Weekly reported that the first Cav flight demonstration is provisionally scheduled by mid-2006, and the first SLV flight exercise would take place the next year. A test of the two systems combined would be carried out by late 2007. A prototype demonstrating HCV technology would be tested in 2009. SLV rockets will also give the air force a cheap and flexible means to launch military satellites at short notice, within weeks, days or even hours of a crisis developing. The SLV-Cav combination, according to the Darpa document, "will provide a near-term (approximately 2010) operational capability for prompt global strike from Consus (the continental US) while also enabling future development of a reusable HCV for the far-term (approximately 2025)". The range of this weapon is unclear.
Countries have the rulers they deserve. Other countries also have the right to exist. If a country with an irresponsible ruler and history threatens another country with destruction and acts accordingly, the other country MUST use the right to defend itself. There are no excuses not to, including worrying about who dies. If diplomacy fails, and it will with various countries, there are some other steps, one more serious than the next. A truce can take place before war, if it is honorable to both sides, otherwise there is war.
If you want to go deeper into space, the PAC-3 antiballistic missile also doesn't carry explosives and relies on a direct hit. You won't find out if they are on booster rockets, though. We should assume they are. Look it up!

Someone needs to assassinate that crazy president of Iran.
That's what people kept saying before Iraq too. Getting close to one of these dictators is next to impossible. Even if we got rid of Mahmoud, we'd still have Supreme Ayatollah Ali Khamenei to deal with. If he didn't support this it wouldn't be happening, as he and his cabal probably are the only people that could get the wet work done.

There are huge numbers of young Iranians yearning to be free. These children are just that, children. The scorn should be reserved for the parents and government who put them in that position.
