Yes in fact I did, I wish the article would have mentioned this as well. The government of El Salvador has been exceptionally helpful to our law enforcement authorities in addressing the gang problem. They simply could not be more agressive in doing so, their laws dealing with MS-13 are incredibly draconian. Just having a tattoo gets you a long prison sentence there.
So THAT'S why they have come here....they just want tattoos. And here I've been thinking bad things about them. ;)
Is it not possible that their draconian measures are actually chasing them to the US?
susie
Incredibly draconian? These are the people who cut off other people's hands and feet with machetes, and they're doing it here in northern Virginia as well as in their own country. They are not getting the tatoos as a lifestyle choice.
Incredibly draconian? These are the people who cut off other people's hands and feet, and murder, with machetes, and they're doing it here in northern Virginia as well as in their own country. They are not getting the tatoos as a lifestyle choice. They are getting tatoos to intimidate those with whom they come in contact. We have no obligation to admit these people or let them stay here, regardless of how cooperative the Salvadoran government might be. And the Salvadorans are entitled to be as draconian as they feel necessary. This is, by the way exacerbated by our birthright citizenship policy. A lot of the Salvatruchas were born in America to illegal Salvadoran parents, so we can't get rid of them. Mala gente.
