Greg's 1/184 Troops have arrived safely at Sacramento Internation Airport to a rousing welcome from families and friends. Greg was not with them as he had to stay in Texas another day. He will be coming home today around 3PM.
Here is the latest update directly from Greg:
Greg just called from Ft. Bliss, Tx. to chat a bit. He informed us he had re-upped for another year of Active Duty and will be training the soon to be deployed troops at a Base in Dublin, Ca. The Army offered him the position that he thought would be to his benefit to take advantage of and will also mean a promotion in rank for him. He had other choices in Bases: Yakima, Wa-Colorado, and Texas, but chose to be close to his California home. It will be a bit of a commute, but tolerable. When I inquired how he was feeling (with his IED injuries), he told me that he is still having neck, back, arm pain and headaches, but is feeling better slowly, but surely.

Looks like Greg is going to be helping our troopers learn what he has learned in Iraq... that can only increase their chances of coming back alive and whole and victorious.
Soldiersprayingmom had a host of pictures she sent me from the homecoming... but I decided that many were too personal. I do not feel right posting picture without the permission of the people in them... especially when they are of families seeing their loved ones for the first time in months or years. There were a couple that were generalized... more like news photos.
The plane landing...
PING!

update on Greg.
Thanks for that wonderful news....that they are on their way...and Greg will soon be amongst us.
The sarcastic jab possibilities at the Left are endless. But for now, Welcome Home, Sarge!
Pics, please, would be nice and inspiring!
Laughter and teardrops greet 184th contingent's return to Golden State
A letter writer's comment...
What a great photograph on the front page of The Bee on Jan. 13 "A very welcome return," a photo of our guys returning from Iraq.
I'm so proud of and humbled by their duty. Let us residents of Modesto, Oakdale and other communities have a grand parade soon to show our appreciation. Can't you see it? American flags waving on a warm valley day, classic cars, pretty girls, marching bands and the centerpiece, our California National Guard troops, marching down the street. Brings a tear to my eye just thinking about it.
Come on, Modestans, let's show we care! Come on, elected officials, let's lead the parade.
Welcome home to the Golden State, to the National Guard 1/184 and soon to FReeper 'jmpmstr4u2.' What joyful news! WE LOVE OUR TROOPS: Can't say it enough.
Welcome Home Greg!!!
With love and gratitude, and with God's blessings on you...From your fellow Freepers!
