Ooops!
We all make mistakes. But some mistakes are bigger than others. Here's an example--when a newspaper prints incorrect information.
Newspapers frequently run corrections and retractions. But you usually have to search for them.
Well, Regret the Error lists corrections, retractions and clarifications printed in newspapers around the country. It also includes a short commentary.
Sometimes the mistakes are humorous. But I [Kim Komando] don't visit the site to gloat over others' mistakes. I read it because it makes me feel a little better about some of the mistakes I've made.
TOPICS: Miscellaneous; News/Current Events; Political Humor/Cartoons
KEYWORDS: 1maybeintentional; 2rememberthecnn; 3xoncheney; alito; alitohearings; correction; error; kim; komando; newspapers; regret; regrettheerror; retraction
How sweet this is!

The article on this site entitled Breaking: A surprising report on Alito's past is particularly humorous.

Thanks for posting the article! I hope Judge and Mrs. Alito see it -- and they frame it for his office wall.

I love the correction on the Alito article: "... contained a sentence that was not intended to be part of the brief."
It's left to the reader to decide which sentence.

A trial story published in the Des Moines Register some years ago resulted in a three column correction statement. The reporter, Liz Ballantine (daughter of one of the shareholders in the Register) got the prosecutor and judge's names mixed up and had the defense attorney sentenced to 20 years. The homicide victim's name was mixed up with the defendant's sister. There were several other beauts but these are the items I remember...
Needless to say, Liz was taken off the courthouse beat for a while.

I've worked at a major newspaper.
I've worked at a college that trained people to be elementary school teachers.
I know the quality of people writing and editing our newspapers.
I know the quality of people who want to become elementary school teachers.
Be afraid.
Be very afraid.

That certainly appears Clintonian.

Why did Alito shoot the Pope?
They are both Catholic. Did they have a disagreement about doctrine or was it a personal thing?

Just bad writing, actually, but it does lead to some bizarre images.
To: reagan_fanatic
Is this why Teddy Kennedy wants to delay the Alito vote????

I laughed so hard the first time I read that. I'm still laughing while I type this...I can't believe the lack of quality in some editing rooms!

Sometimes it is best to understate to underline the magnitude of the oops.
