He says all blood should be treated equally

OMG, now we have to have equal rights for blood?

Reason number 978,839,724 why I will never go to Africa.

"Mr Uys said the question of risk of HIV infection was no reason to discriminate against gay men.

He says if people were discriminated against based on risk, then South African women between the ages of 18 and 24 should not be allowed to donate, as research shows that they are the group with the highest HIV infection rate in the country."

How accurate - far too many gays and young females are HIV cases. On the other hand, why bother with blood banks anyway, as the natives are all too busy butchering each other.

Between tribalism and Communism, S. African has no future except as a Turd World rathole.

Pity!

Gay is as gay does. At least that is what my
mama always told me.

Liberals here will like this idea and require us to set up a system that guarantees an equal chance of HIV-infected blood of being used by people.

Why discriminate based on blood simply because HIV might be in it? Do you think the people who have HIV now really wanted it?

It is only fair if the infection can be equally shared with others. That is how liberals can force the government to give HIV people their "due".

"Gay activists in South Africa have vowed to "flood" the country's blood services with blood donated by gay men."

This gives a validity to the term 'homophobia'.
With the Gays...it's all about themselves and their little dramas.

They should be arrested for attempted murder, if it's found that they are HIV positives and are donating blood and lying about it.

South Africa slowly sliding deeper into the abyss. Every effort to help them is met with charges of racism or imperialism; hope is lost.

With a country with an AIDS rate as high as South Africa, frankly, people do need to be discriminated against and all blood needs to be tested. Perhaps women, age 18-24, need to be tested, as well.

But I think this action by gays is indicative of what happens when you let gay rights take a prominent role in your government. All reason goes out the window (come on, you're letting two men or two women marry?).

And yes, it might be worth noting that an activist judge in South Africa declared that not allowing gay marriage was "unconstitutional." So their legislature has basically been given the same mandate that occurred in Massachusetts: legalize it, or we will.

And also to note, whoever is making the claim that girls age 18-24 represent the highest incidence of AIDS of any South African demographic isn't being fully honest.

Fact of the matter is that South Africans don't know what percentage of gay males are affected.

What is interesting is that females aged 18-24 were 8 times more likely than males to be HIV+. Sounds the belief that raping a virgin as a cure for HIV is still alive and well in South Africa. And yes, South Africa does have the highest rate of rape in the world.

Alliance spokesman Juan Uys describes the question as "humiliating, offensive and an insult to gay men".

. . .and why is that? Seems they betray themselves here. . .

Soooooo, when they turn 25 they outgrow it? Or do they just die?

Not that I condone being gay, but..

Are we still in an era where we believe if your gay then you have AIDS?

By now I would think way more heterosexual people have HIV than gays.

Will we have separate toilets for gays too? I believe it's a ridiculous question to ask if your gay or not before you donate blood. Having homosexual intercourse does not "create" the AIDS virus.

[He] speaketh with homosexual agenda forked tongue. Risk involves probability of infection. Comparing and contrasting the homosexual population with the women between 18 and 24 as to number infected has nothing to do with infection rates -- e.g. 90% of a population can be infected and without new infections have a zero infection rate...

The Gay and Lesbian Alliance says its members would lie when asked the question: "Have you had male-to-male sex in the past five years?"

Why am I not surprised they'd lie?

The ELISA test for HIV give false positives for black people, pregnant women, people with a family history of malaria or TB, etc. Basically the tests are junk, and are especially useless in Africa.

The HIV virus has never been isolated, and so the serological tests for HIV have never been calibrated against the virus. They should not be used in diagnosis anywhere, but in Africa they are more obviously fraudulent

Maybe it's because the statistics of female and hetero carriers are doctored to create panic and gifts of more U.S. aid. When you peel away all the fabrications, the risk still comes down to homosexual men's blood.
