Movie Actor Baldwin Launches Anti-Porn Action, Promises Newspaper Ads

NEW YORK A new sex-oriented business is opening not far from his home outside New York City, and actor Stephen Baldwin is promisiing to stop it, possibly with the help of newspaper ads.
One of the family of Baldwin brother (Alex, Billy, Daniel) actors, Stephen Baldwin has become known as a Christian activist. His home near Nyack, N.Y., has a sign bearing scripture right on his front lawn.
Baldwin, 39, stood outside the "adult entertainment" shop and photographed workers and their vehicles as they got the store ready to open, according to an account in the Journal-News of White Plains, N.Y.
Baldwin told the paper he planned to stand outside the store every day and photograph the license plates of the store's patrons to aid in tracking down their identities. He vowed to take out a full-page newspaper advertisement once a month to publish those names.
"I won't stop until it shuts down," he said. He has said the store will attract crime, lower property values and hurt the quality of life in the largely middle-class town, which is known as something of an artist's enclave.
"I don't want it this close to my house," Baldwin, who lives about a mile away, told the paper. "I'm personally not OK with pornography. I definitely think that it adds to the moral decay or our culture."
Local police "responded to the property last night after Baldwin called them about 9:30 p.m.," the newspaper related. "He said the workers were giving him a hard time for taking photographs. Police told Baldwin he was free to protest and take photographs as long as he was not on the store's property."
Hmm, work a register for more money than that skill set would otherwise pay, or have sex on camera for money...

Taking a photo of the store workers, license plates & customers is just stupid. If I lived in the area, I would go to the store & film him taking photos.....oh wait...that is exactly what he wants....attention. He can't make any decent films so he resorts to harassing a legal business and those who work for the legal business & those who are shopping for items that are legal.

I've just skimmed this article, but I'd have to assume that Alec's brother is his polar opposite politically.

Since he started ripping hollywood as a sewer and became a born again christian (not to mention conservative republican, not to mention he attended the 2004 GOP convention), his acting career is over.
He basically spends time with his family now and does christian charity work, and often blasts hollywood (and sometimes his own brothers).
He isn't looking for work, and he isn't breaking the law, he can take photos and put them in the papers, they can do the same of him, as long as he voices his opinion, spends his money and his time, in a legal manner, there is nothing that porn place can do.....except watch business suffer.

Yeah, I know. I was just making light of the fact that he seems to have a lot of free time on his hands. For what it's worth, I respect him for tossing away what was a reasonably successful career in Hollywood on principle.
FWIW, he starred in one of my favorite war movies, a little-seen gem from the late 1980s called The Beast about a Russian tank crew lost in a canyon in Afghanistan and persued by a band of Mujahadeen. Excellent film! Strongly recommend renting it sometime. He played one of the tankers.

What are you talking about? He worked more in 2005 than in 2004, 2003, 2002, 2001. He has three projects lined up for 2006 and he is constantly looking for more.
A project crossed my desk this past summer that had him attached (a letter of commitment) along with Snoop Dogg (a pornographer himself). It was a NC-17 edging to X rated project looking for funding. The story was about pimps, dealers and a dirty cop. I refused to help it find funding.
It's gotta suck to be the dimmest Baldwin. It's like being the last to cross the line at the Special Olympics. At least he still gets a hug.
